I actually learned this the hard way when they didn’t pass the eBay verification. Which I knew I was risking when I bought them in the first place lesson learned but next time I’ll probably use some sort of shoe app to possibly check in in store. What really gets me is that they had them priced at $400 which again I was in a position that I could risk that in the hopes that they were real, but the fact the store priced them at that just assuming they were real is what frustrates me. I know they probably have some catchall that says they can’t guarantee the authenticity of their items, but it’s aggravating when they price things as if they were authentic.

Had an amazing picking experience this past weekend. Saw an advertisement for a big estate sale in a ti y town about an hour away. We got there 20 mins. early and we’re the only o es there. The guy said “Come on in and look around”

It was 2 1/2 acres of stuff. Piles and piles and boxes upon boxes of stuff. Here what it looked like.

We immediately started finding stuff. All kinds of good stuff. My wife immediately went to the pile of cast iron. There was a bunch.

We ended up being there for around 3 hours. There was just that much stuff to look through. I’d find myself finding new things after I’d looked in the same pile 3 times already. Here’s about half of what we got. We filled most of the bed if my pickup truck and the entire back seat.

All in all, we spent $120. My wife spent $84 on cast iron. She got 42 pieces for $2 / piece. The remaining $37 was my stuff. It includes new games and puzzles, Coleman stoves and heaters, leather jackets and vests, motorcycle saddlebags, rodeo belt buckles, 5 1970s beer light-up signs, 5 fishing rods, 20+ fishing reels, bits, cooler, sewing machine, golf clubs, etc.

This is something I would absolutely have looked up, but would have expected it to not have any value as some times those old tiger games aren’t as valuable as you would think. Nice find.

We have a Goodwill "Boutique" by the campus of the college I work at. Haven't been there in forever. Randomly walked in on a lunch break and found three brand new, with stickers and tags New Era 59/50 fitted hats ... white sox, dodgers, cardinals. Size 7 5/8 which is my size. $10 a pop, I was super pumped to grab them.

Nice find. I sold a used and untested one of these for like 90 bucks last year. Wonder what a new one would sell for

If you sold a used version for $90, they have definitely came down in value. Complete in box is about $30-$40 now.

Sealed versions have sold for $350-$500 depending on condition.

Found this about two months ago.

I knew it was real but as I was thumbing through it today and found this small piece of paper in the pages.

First president's autograph I own. It was in a paperback book he wrote "All the Best".

I did some photo sorting recently and set aside pics of some of my best gaming finds from the last 20 years or so. I'll toss a few up. These were all from pawn shops, ex-rentals, or at gaming stores mostly before people had internet on their phones (mid to late 2000s).

IIRC, I picked this up for $100 (closer to $50 I believe). Sold at the time for around $150. Probably worth a tad more nowadays...Immaculate. Still kicking myself for not keeping it, but money was tighter for me back then.

Picked this one up for $30. I believe I sold it for $50 or $60 for a quick flip at the time.

I didn't know what I had when I bought it. I just noticed the interesting label. Paid $4. Sold for around $400. I believe these for quite a bit more than that nowadays. Still was happy to get 100x my money back.

I don't remember what I paid for this one, but it was pretty reasonable (probably around $30 at the time).

More Pokemon Stuff. Most of these were purchased for $5-10 bucks at Pawn Shops. I needed to replace the batteries in most. Photos are of just the CIB ones, but I remember buying up countless "loose" Red/Yellow/Blue and the GBC titles for $4-5 a pop back in the day. Easy flips for $12-15. Obviously worth a bit more nowadays.

I imagine this is a grail item for many game collectors.

Man that is nice! Probably $600-$800 nowadays. That DKC competition cart is like $4k.

I also started picking up video game stuff a few years before everyone jumped in the pool. Found lots of NES loose games and a ton of consoles but never anything like what you've pictured.

Do you have a recommendation for video game graders?

Just to stay on topic, I was "thrifting" my parent's basement looking for my Super Nintendo (literally hundreds of cardboard boxes and rubber totes down there), and found a sealed Sonic & Knuckles Genesis game. Seal is legit, still have the price sticker on it (either 49.99 or 59.99, I forgot ). Would like to have it graded and protected (of course.....money talks).

There were definitely some crazy finds to be had back before eBay flipping was "trendy" and everyone had the internet on their phones. My only regret was not hanging on to some of this stuff.
