Don't like the way he was grabbing at his back after that last swing.

Probably a good sign he was on the field celebrating. Probably better he didn't have to bat in the 11th.

Raw 2017 megas are selling for over $1000. One about to close for almost $1300…raw. Someone cares about this card. I’ve got a BGS 10 and BGS 9.5 both pack pulled. The card was not mass distributed and the first Ohtani card produced by Topps. It’ll remain relevant.

This post has nothing to do with Jersey Shore, so I don't see how these facts are relevant. The gall of you coming in here with your know it all attitude that is based in facts when we're all just trying to have a Snooki party.

It's an Ohtani, it'll always be relevant. Based on sales history there isn't a big reason to expect a strong ROI on this card vs. 2018, if that's what a buyer is looking for. Only time will tell. At the end of the day, buy what you like, you can't go wrong with Ohtani!

Also, if that raw going at auction for $1350 right now is to be believed, then the PSA 9 sitting at $1200 OBO seems like a screaming deal.

Take away his pitching he is still mvp by a mile, add his better then average pitching he runs away with mvp. Nobody Is close to him in MVP voting. Unless he goes ice cold or gets hurt he has it locked up

Also he is not WAY out of the top 20 in pitching, that's just a silly statement

MVP is all about narrative. It’s Ohtani unanimously. Arguing against him being a lock at this point is like arguing Jokic was going to win the MVP in 2023.

100% agree Ohtani has the AL MVP on lock UNLESS he gets traded to an NL Team prior to the deadline. Sure these ~90-100 games are unprecedented, but there's still ~35% of the season to go post-deadline and there could be a player who plays 150-160 games on a postseason contender that puts them past the finish line to make the playoffs in the last couple months.

I just don't see a player who plays ~65% of the games in 1 league winning the MVP.

This conversation is moot if the Angels don't trade him anyway.

The Angels are not likely to trade him! They know he is their meal ticket. Ohtani is amazing and his legend keeps growing. Oriole are talking about other players as solid investments, but when it comes to baseball and modern cards, the conversation beings and ends with Ohtani. 5 years from now there will be even bigger haters.

If he is traded to the NL, and let's say Wander does manage to match Ohtani's AL WAR total by the end of the season. Are they really going to give it to Wander with his offensive numbers? Or Seager considering the time he missed? People already love to second guess MVP voters, and I kinda feel like giving it to anyone but Ohtani at this point will just serve to discredit the voters. They should really be hoping he doesn't get traded.

You could say the conversation for modern baseball cards begins with Junior and Trout....but yes it's definitely Ohtani now

Ohtani collectors need Ohtani to get traded to an AL team. Yes he’s the front runner for the AL MVP but voters will not give that award to him if he is traded to an NL team and ends the season in an NL uniform. If he goes to Tex, Balt, Hou, NY, he’ll lock it up 100%.

Odds of Ohtani winnng MVP in either league if he gets traded is probably very low, but he could set another precedent by becoming the first player to ever receive Cy Young AND MVP votes in both leagues. That has probably a very good chance of happening if he gets traded to an NL team.

I could see a new rule in the voting if he got traded. There's no reason they shouldn't consider all of his season stats and just make him eligible for the league he played the majority of his games in.

Can't wait for him to hit 63... after he gets traded to the Yankees at the deadline. Imagine that man with the short porch for 81 games a year

CY? He’s 7-5 with a 3.5 ERA and leads the league in Wild pitches. He doesn’t lead in any counting stat. He’s also given up 14 HR already which is all he gave up last year. MVP I totally support votes for, CY as of now in the AL, no way.
