So I asked @WindhorstESPN if the Pels ever intended to seriously engage with LA on Anthony Davis, or if all the talks & leaks were instead designed to sabotage the young Lakers as revenge for what N.O. sees as tampering, & he said "it's not just possible, it's what happened." 👀

This is all good and lulzy if true, but LA will be having the last laugh when Tatum is off the table in July and Kyrie is off to NY with AD. And NO continues to be a cellar dweller due to pride.

Agree if there’s any credibility to the Pels just stringing the Lakers along, Id be pissed if I were AD. Having to play out the rest of a meaningless season

I see what you mean, but AD is a top 5 nba player. When you're that good, you get way more leeway and teams will still do anything to get you. Jimmy really didn't have that same luxury, and Philly still fought to get him.

He has a contract and NO isn't wrong to wait for the best deal.

I agree he has more leeway, but I still say NO completely has the right not to trade him and to wait until the summer to get a deal they like.

NO said what they wanted. LA just doesn't want to pony up and pay it, so why be mad at NO?

Oh they definitely do. Whether it's smart or not is a completely different story. In essence they're sitting on a sealed box of FOTL immaculate hoping it continues to increase in value when they're forced to unload it in a few months.

They gave an outrageous demand knowing the Lakers would not do that while stringing them along. I’d trash them all day if I were AD and that was what they were doing. He could have strung the Pelicans along and left them with nothing.

At the end of the day, Boston will offer NO something. So it's not like NO are gonna come away empty handed.

I agree. We will just have to see what they end up with in the summer time if a deal doesn't happen tomorrow. I just don't blame them for not really wanting to deal with LA, but I think they will take it in the summer if it's the best deal.

It is refreshing to see lol. And I agree, NO will end up with something, so there's no rush to trade him by the deadline. Almost every NBA analyst has been saying that for a week.

If I were him I’d trash the organization take the time and enjoy. Then I’d play at 60% and say I’ll play worse for any team other than Lakers. Warn the league and give Pelicans what they sowed.

I think if the Pelicans keep him you are gonna see his dad become more vocal so AD doesn’t get fined. His image will be fine in LA, NO making themselves look like immature children to the rest of the league executives and free agents
