Default Anthony Davis Requests a trade

Per Woj:

“Agent Rich Paul has notified the New Orleans Pelicans that All-NBA forward Anthony Davis has no intention of signing a contract extension if and when presented and that he has requested a trade, Paul told ESPN on Monday.”

Another blow for small market teams. Guess you can't blame Anthony here though. If you don't get people like him some help, then what is his incentive for staying put? Hopefully the Pelicans can get a better trade than what Cleveland got for Kyrie.

I think it's obvious at this point that's his preferred destination. The Pels however shouldn't give two cr@ps about that and just get the biggest return. A truckful of young players and picks.

Problem is now everyone knows he wants to go to the Lakers. No one is going to readily outbid the Lakers knowing he may just walk. It's the Kawhi situation all over again. Anyone other that the Lakers is taking a huge chance.

- Boston can't make a trade without trading Kyrie.
- LAL will just say pick what guys you want.
- LAC will make a run - but not sure they have the assests.

But if i'm the Pels I talk to Phoenix, NY and Sac. They all have the picks and players to get it done.

I completely disagree, unless they plan on giving up Tatum. Which I just don't see. The lakers can put a better trade package together than Brown, Rozier and picks.

AD is not a FA til 2020-2021 so the Pels can wait as long as they want. If i'm owner I hold him until next year's deadline if the team is not a contender.

But Boston can't acquire him until they trade Kyrie or sign him to an extention and they can't sign him until the offseason. So if the Pels want this resolved at this trade deadline than Boston needs to trade Kyrie as part of any deal they make.

How many draft picks and extra things are going to New Orleans? New Orleans is going to want a Kings ransom for AD

Why would the Lakers help fasciliate AD to Boston to pair Kyrie and Lebron again when that already ended in disaster. AD is a better fit with Lebron than Kyrie is since AD doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time.

I don't see any team going out of their way to help Boston out. Maybe Chicago or Phoenix.

I agree that trade would never happen. Sounds good from the Boston perspective, terrible from LA’s perspective and NO’s perspective.

Not looking forward to the upcoming weeks of absolutely terrible trade ideas that greatly benefit one team, wreck the other team and would never happen ever

I think we are looking at AD for Ingram and filler. The Pels don't have much leverage here.

There will be a couple teams willing to gamble. I could see Philly, NY & Miami taking a swing. Outside of NY though i don't think there's much of a package there.

Zero. And I mean zero chance that package lands AD.

No way that lands AD.

The timing couldn't be better on Anthony Davis' part. And apparently Rich Paul didn't give the Pelicans a preferred destination.

The Celtics can't trade for him even if they wanted unless Kyrie is involved. So first the Celtics would have to trade Kyrie or resign him, which isn't happening until July 1. That is a lot of chips to fall to make the stars align on that.

What are the Lakers going to offer? Pope, Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, and a draft pick or two works financially. That doesn't leave the Lakers with much and if I am New Orleans that doesn't get it done.

I just don't know that NY is going to be in play here. I think (hope) that their first rounder this year is untouchable and that would kill any deal from the Pels perspective. I don't see any package NY could put together unless the Pels like KP, Knox, and picks maybe but that is basically what the Knicks did with Melo by gutting their depth and it killed them. They need to rebuild and just dump salary not trade for AD. They have a good foundation and if they can sell KD or Kyrie on KP, Knox, Robinson, Trier, Zion (dreaming) then I think they are set up better for the long haul.

Lakers should get rid of whatever they have to to pair Lebron with AD.

I am going to be the "get off my lawn" guy.

I hate when stars do this. This royally screws small market teams.

Houston is interesting because we've already had reports this season of them offering 4 first-rounders. Could they do it again for AD? Thibs seemed to have a sticking point on the players added with the picks, but Dell Demps isn't a stubborn curmudgeon and the 4 first rounders would be an excellent haul.

Houston just goes all the way---4 first rounders, Capella, and Gordon.

My gut says he ends up a Rocket.
