Wow the days of picking up Ohtani RC's on the cheap from 2019 are over ....Thank goodness.! Is he taking a different approach at the plate? His HR power is amazing. Rangers were totally outclassed last night. Great pitching effort!

Where does the 2018 Finest rookie fit in the ranks of his rookie cards? Assuming its ahead of Optic/Prizm (non-logo stuff) but behind Chrome/Flagship?

Not until the Series 2 and TC explode.

The TC #150 BASE PSA 10 is hovering around $200 right now. When that gets above the $250 mark is when I see the Update US1 start to go up.

What is actually surprising to me is the prices of the paper Bowman #49. Again base PSA 10 is sitting around $100, half of what his TC counterpart is. This is a larger portion than most players have in their bowman paper rookies, as Bowman gets no love for rookies. However, with Ohtani, the Bowman was his FIRST rookie, so it willl always have that, and the action shot is nicer than the Topps and Topps Chrome ones.

If I were to decide the pecking order of these cards and where the Update will fall it out would like this, but this is also just one man's opinion.

These are all also just talking about base, not throwing in parallels, it gets crazy when talking about parallels and SPs.

I really like this image, though I understand some people will dislike it since you can't see his face nor is it an action shot.

Opening Day was actually his first pack pulled RC, but Bowman paper in general is not a high pedigree product, so I think that's the contributor more than anything else. The fact that it shares the same image as his 1st BCA is a tailwind, though.

Heritage Low (Action) also came out after Opening Day and before Bowman. Many, including myself, consider that his true RC.

You can't go wrong with any of the options. Time will settle everything.

While this is all true and i was actually referencing all the PSA 10 you list above, the main issue is that all of them are stagnant right now and the reason for that I answered above. They will all go up once we see more of his greatness, and they will go WAY up when it happens.

Fear of injury is going to be in the back of the mind of any typical collector (Tatis, Acuna). Maybe that's magnified a bit for Ohtani, but it will always be there.

The unique factor with Ohtani is that Topps had notice of his stardom and milked every possible opportunity to include him in products. And I mean EVERY opportunity. Card buyers are confused at the selection, understandably.

As time passes, there will be clear tiers beginning to form, demand will consolidate, and prices will rise for the top tier. It will likely be 3-4 RCs - then everything else.

Forgot about opening day, that was a SP though wasn’t it? Also as far as heritage low goes, Like you I don’t consider it a RC, nice card, but not a RC.

Opening Day had a base as well as blue and the last run of toys-r-us purple foils

I also think the Bowman image is going to carry that card. When Ohtani Fever blasted off, there were two auto cards that were being treated like Willy Wonka Golden Tickets -- Heritage ROA and the Bowman RC auto.

I haven't actually seen a 2018 Bowman Ohtani in probably at least two years and I can still picture it in my mind's eye perfectly just because people were murdering babies for them at their peak.

While all conventional wisdom says Bowman RCs don't do squat, I think the Ohtani will be a major exception.

You can have PSA add a third line saying whatever you want it to say. Surprised we haven’t seen people add eBay 1/1 to the third line just so they can add the even PSA says this is special!
