While once a upon a time manufacturers wouldn't have even bothered with anything less than 50k boxes, in today's non-sport market, anything over 10k boxes probably qualifies as a large print run. Double that, and we're approaching the modern upper echelon where quantity is concerned.

For a niche non-sport release, yes.

GPK x MLB S3 was a little under 8000 boxes.

Green Day is more popular than MLB, sad that a basic pop punk band from the 90's has surpassed our great American tradition in terms of global popularity but it is true. Welcome to Paradise!

Maybe in worldwide appeal. I definitely see WAY more people sporting MLB gear than Green Day.

I would guess the Yankees (let alone the entire MLB) have more world wide name recognition and dollars spent than Green Day.

Not true but, “garbage Pail kids mlb” when there’s already countless MLB releases doesn’t come anywhere close to the only Green Day set. Plus GPK Green Day goes very hard. Green Day GPK is far less niche than MLB GPK imo.

Regardless, granted how limited Green Day signatures are, with any of their signatures or collectibles going for a lot of money… these cards should go for a pretty penny. The relics with tour used mem should be interesting. Could see those going for a lot

Just praying it’s only 1500 cases or so made. That would be limited enough that the per case yield could be close to an autograph a case or better but certainly every other or better. Can’t imagine they signed less than 250 each

Why wouldn't they replace them? It doesn't say 2 base parallels per box.

I meant that if you get a numbered insert parallel, do you get three numbered parallels per box? Or if you get a numbered insert parallel does it replace one of the base set numbered parallels meaning you still get two total?

Not sure why you’re explaining what you meant. I know what you meant. It’s what you said. I asked, why wouldn’t an insert parallel replace a base parallel? It says 2 parallels per box. An insert parallel is a parallel. There’s no reason to assume you will get more than 2 per box. No where does it say two base parallels per box.

I would not classify this as a large print run. And hobby shops definitely won’t be allotted a ton. It’s almost the same exact print run as the 40th Anniversary set. Again, this assumes my math is right. Also, it’s make a lot of sense of this had the same exact print run as 40th as they’re both out within a short span of each other.

I am following your logic here and there were 10 parallels in the 40th as well. From the few 40th box openings I have watched, looks like you get 2-3 base per pack, a green border, and then 1-2 other cards whether an insert or a parallel.

Complete sets will be interesting if that is the case, you'd need to open at least 5 boxes to have a chance to complete a set with perfect collation.

One key difference between this and a 40th box is 8 packs in a 40th vs. 10 packs in Green Day - which could mean 20% less boxes / cases from 40th (but not necessarily from your calcs).

Of course, all wild speculation but will be a lot of fun!

What was the pre order price for 40th? Curious how it compares to this.

Launch day sale was $79.99, but it was a different configuration with 8 packs rather than 10 in Green Day.

Lots of talk from members who didn't buy the product. Nothing wrong with that but I'm more interested in hearing from those who actually purchased some.

Aside from the autos (that we're all chasing), is there anything else on the checklist that piques your interest?

As previously mentioned, I'm very interested in the "Tribute to East Bay" subset. I'm curious to know what they'll incorporate into the image as well as what they'll look like. And within that set, I've identified a couple cards that I'm even more interested (just from the name) than others, particularly EB-3 and EB-7.

TRIBUTE TO EAST BAY
EB-1 PIN Ball
EB-2 Mt. DIABLO
EB-3 TELEGRAPH Street Close to home, my favorite (Japanese) restaurant (Kiraku) is on this street.
EB-4 HIGHER Learning No clue what this might be but would like to assume it's something related to UC Berkeley
EB-5 Revolting ROSIE
EB-6 Space CHASE
EB-7 FAIRY Land My family has an annual membership (for the last few years) and we (wife/I) periodically take our kids here.
EB-8 Go FISHER

Separately, I'm interested in the American Idiot SPs because I like "regular" (non-parody) cards too. Actually, I don't own a single GPK card in my collection, I strictly bought it because of Green Day (I've only purchased GPK Sapphire boxes at MSRP in the past because they were Montogmery 582 allocations). That's not to say that I can't enjoy them though!

I'm lookng to make a mini-master for my friend's grandson (the one whose mom was Billie's music teacher in Pinole). He's the right age for the silliness of GPK.

How do you know we didn't buy any?

For the record, I didn't. But I did have 2 boxes in my cart for a while. Ultimately decided I didn't like Green Day enough to justify $160 on the long shot at an autograph, which is all I'd really want.

I plan to rip 5-7 boxes (ordered 7 loose boxes but might keep 1-2 sealed to display around the house if the box art looks cool).

I'll be happy to help you and nephinfan with any set needs (with my duplicates).

Stupid question - are these traditional GPK stickers or Chrome?
What island? Did you pull the trigger to purchase?

Hope ya'll have some nice cards (just not the autos lol).

I am lucky to have a bunch of signed GD memorabilia so if I don't hit an auto I won't be too upset!
What kind of signed GD memorabilia do you own? Photos, CDs, vinyls, etc?

Would be awfully nice to hit an auto from a 1 box purchase. Best of luck!

Hahaha, for the record, I wasn't pointing any finger at you!

The thread was just running off path and I wanted to correct its course. Also wanted to know what people (who purchased the product) were excited about, maybe hear some fun/sentimental stories too.

Who cares which has more fans? How do you even define a fan? My wife can quote Green Day songs. But she’s not a Green Day “fan”. She would actually rather go to a baseball game than a Green Day concert desire her even knowing less about baseball. Other than the fact that they’re cards it doesn’t mean you can compare the licenses/demand/interest. A Vette and a Chrysler Town & Country are both cars. Which is better?

I'm dumb enough to think that theres just about no way these stay at under $150.00/box when they release. Even if the Autos are one every 3 cases, the chase is still 1 in 60 to get one. There's enough value in the relics and numbered stuff and even the base and insert cards, that people will be signing up to roll the dice at that price. The only way they could stay at the price they are now is if the Autos are literally impossible. There is enough history to support this.

I don't want any more than I have now, but anyone who missed out should definitely get in now (I think). I hope the main players don't have some huge supply of it, and that it's really just small amounts for even places like BO and DACW etc.

I feel like you may be sniffing your own farts a bit but your head is in the right place. If $135-140 dlvd is already happening $150 is just a stones throw. Also as Vegeta previously mentioned i can also see singles sales doing very well at least initially which could prop sealed prices up even more
