It's almost the people buying stuff under $20 total, just got my first in a couple years last month. All the comment said was, was OLD. This was a vintage item made in the 80's. Just can't win with everyone.

Anyone else seeing thrift stores closing in your area? I've seen 4 recently close up and they were good. Couple Goodwill bookstores, as well.

Default Tiffany Sighting

Found this a couple weeks ago at a thrift store, couldn't believe my eyes..
I have had it authenticated by an authorized Tiffany dealer and appraised.

What was it for? Negs are easy to get removed these days.

What part of California are you in? I'm in Norcal and 2 new Goodwills opened within the last two months in my area.

They just opened a huge America's Thrift Store here in an old Toys R Us building. Prices are higher than I would like, but I have had some good finds there so far.

It always annoyed me that they had several collection points around town, would pick up leftovers from garage sales, and had drop off boxes all over the city, but would ship out the stuff out of town to other stores. I'm glad they finally opened a store here.

Anyone else stop going to some stores because of where they put the tags? There is a store about 45 minutes from me I used to love, lots of high end clothing. They started stapling their tags through the collars of the shirts! All the nice Thomas Pinks etc are now ruined.

Pricing is my big issue. If it's Nike or Under Armour or Adidas, etc....it's automatically $8.99. At Goodwill!!!! If it's not half off Saturday, which they do run twice a month, I don't even bother going. I've started focusing more on auctions, if I can find them, and estate sales to help supplement inventory.

Same. Under armour t shirts are 8 bucks at most of them. Same with Nike. Doesnt matter if they are stained etc. I see the same shirts week in and week out just sitting there. There is 1 Goodwill by me that doesnt mark up under armour, so i make sure to hit it pretty regularly. The best deals I find are on Sunday at 1 goodwill when the color of the week is .99 Jeans for a buck etc. Not much I wont buy for a buck.

And recently ive begin to see the local stores reprice from where the distribution prices them will see a 3.99 now 8.99 easy pass with that stuff. Used to enjoy browsing and getting good deals now i feel they price stuff based off ebay came across a binder of cards few weeks back they wanted $25 i browsed few MJ’s but clearly picked through. Asked kid working there who prices this stuff as the binder was worth maybe $10 if the condition wasnt crap he said the manager had picked out cards for her husband and thats whats left

The crazy thing is, I travel a lot for work so I am able to visit other Goodwill's around the state of Indiana and there are Goodwill's that operate off of $4.49 for all polos and dress shirts, 5.99 for sweatshirts and jackets and $6.99 for for jeans. So it's not like they can't survive off a lower margin as it's being done elsewhere.

The Goodwill's that are $8.99 and $6.99 minimum on polos and dress shirts are just ripping people off based off of lack of competition.

There is a pretty nice Goodwill in Madison, Indiana if you are ever that far south. They do the $4.49 for polo shirts and I think $1.99 for t-shirts. I go there quick often. First Saturday of every month is their half price day. If I can't get there when the store opens I don't even bother going because it is picked over. I usually have to park in the little strip mall next door and that's getting there fifteen minutes before they open.

Definitely, I'll have to check it out next time I'm in that area. I see you're from Louisville, I go down there probably once every 2 months. There's some decent Goodwill's down there as well. The one off Hurstbourne isn't bad and if you're ever near Crestwood, that one is smaller but I have found some nice things from time to time.

Love the Crestwood GW! My daughter's orthodontics office was right across the street so I went every month for about two years and found some great stuff. I've found the Louisville locations to be very hit or miss, I think the larger population means that you have to be there at the right time. Hurstbourne is a nice one for sure. There is a newer one that I drove by a few weeks ago but for the life of me I can't recall where it was located. It was in a really nice area though and I'm definitely going to hit it up if I can ever figure out where it was.

EDIT: Didn't think to check Goodwill locations on the map. Turns out we passed it on our way home from Recbar. It's a new location on Taylorsville Road if you ever want to check it out. In a pretty nice area.

I'll definitely have to check it out the next time I'm in town. Looking to get down there for work the week of the 11th in November. Trying to coincide a work trip when my alma mater Indiana State Sycamores play Louisville in basketball.

If you haven't already, download the Goodwill app, it will show you Goodwill stores based on your location. It's nice to have if you're ever traveling and have some time to kill.

Anybody having a slow weekend on eBay? Ever since Labor Day id sell 6-14 items a weekend, except for three weekends ago I sold one thing, this weekend so far just one thing. I know slow weekends happen just curious if this is something happening to others either this weekend or a different weekend.

12 items so far this weekend with a couple more auctions ending tonight and tomorrow with any BINBO's I take as well.

Side note, your eBay handle pulls up no listings.

Slow for me too. Usually Saturday overnight for me is pretty big. I usually end up shipping 15-20 things on Monday, so far this weekend i am only at 5. The last few weeks however i have had more high end sales, but lower volume.

Ok, kinda an odd question, but does anyone have a woman's Pendleton Wool coat in their store?

I'm looking for a bday present for the wife.

Lol, we did the same. After we left she started talking about how much she liked it, I went back the next day to the store in Woodbridge but it was gone already....
