Went to a few sales this morning only spent 6.50. Walked away with few NWT tabasco ties as some Looney Tunes Christmas ones. A very unique Tommy Hilfiger sweater(I know I said I was slowing down with clothing) and 2 books one is one I used to hunt for because my ex-wife wanted it for her collection and I never found one, today I did. THe other was a Steven King First Edition Firestarter that will be an upgrade to my King Collection.

I also came across a few vintage hats. Seems like the older ones bring decent coin. Only problem is pricing them accurately. Guessing these are 80’s. Little dusty but will clean up. Does anyone know of a good vintage hat forum? I’m really getting into hats and would like to expand my knowledge some.

The K-Products hats seem to be the highest dollar, especially John Deere, All Mesh, or Denim.

I think I have a couple of old Stephen King novels in storage. Ill set them aside next time see if you need them. I still havent been able to move the hundreds of old books I have in the storage/garage.

Its really a guessing game if you dig deep into the field there are some interesting items that bring big money and the ones you think would do well just sit. I think I am the only person in my area who even looks at them. So I will generally scoop the better ones up at the estate sales opening day then go back omn the last day and buy whats left for a dollar a bag. Last Friday I filled up a bag with 8 old caps, 12 ties and 2 Nautica shirts for 1.00. Alreay sold one tie for 10.00 and 2 caps from the lot for 40.00..

^^Thats pretty much why I am wanting to get a feel for these hats. Seems like local sellers and such don’t know much about the value and you can turn an easy profit. Thanks for the info guys.

I just snag all I can. They go for around 1.00 each at the start of the sales. It is definitely a niche market. As far as pricing goes I will look for comps on sold items, but many I do not find so I just either start them at a high price and work down or some I will just throw up on auction from time to time. I usually end up with virtually pennies in them so its no biggie if they only sell at the starting bid.

I just wish I could go back and pick up some of the thousands I have passed through the years. A couple of years ago was at one garage sale and a woman had a box of them for 10.00 about 50 in the box she said she had another 5 or 6 boxes in the attic. Wish I had snagged them all.

Agree with everything. I love flipping hats. they are so cheap, and the return can be crazy.

A few years ago, I thought it was kind of gross and never looked twice at hats. What a mistake. No telling what I passed up.

There are some vintage hat groups on Facebook that do mainly 80s & 90s sports, worth checking value with them if you can't find any comps. Some hats are pretty rare, and can look similar to a $20 hat, but go for hundreds.

The Game big logo, sports specialties scripts, heather gray sports specialties scripts, logo athletic sharktooth, double sharktooth, and splash can bring the most $ in my experience with 80s & 90s sports caps.

Here was my set up from this weekends show, did pretty well, and scored a couple of cool pieces - old Rangers Canseco caricature tshirt, and a green mavs satin starter were my faves.

We built a faux room to show off all our 80s & 90s Jordan and Bulls stuff.

Opening day of one of this weeks Estate sales was today. Bought 14 caps. One was an awesome one from the local High School so will either keep it or sell locally. 3 of the ones I found today have comps ranging from 80.00 to 250.00. Snagged a couple of ties and a pair of BKE blue Jeans as well. Sould do pretty well for my 27.00 spent.

Hit up a Salvation Army store this morning while in town.

2 NWT Frog Toggs suits 4.99 ea
1 TX Rangers trucker cap 1.99
NIB Website design set for .99
3 Kids size Vineyard Vines shirts 1.99ea
A pair of Sean John jeans 1/2 price, cost me 1.98

I bought some other stuff, but it's still in the truck and I don't remember everything.

We did stop to visit a friend at their resale shop and picked up a pair of Red Wing half boots for $5 in really nice shape.

Finally finished reorganizing my work area/office and can actually see what color the tiles on the floor are. So much junk that was accumulated without listing. Maybe now I can streamline the process and make this a bit more than a part-time income.

We have 4 main companies running here one is outrageous on their pricing, the others are not so bad. They all tend to overprice some things, but luckily my areas of focus and knowledge they are usually cheap.

Did anyone get that 50% off eBay fees offer like a month ago? I relisted everything I had before the period ended a week ago and even though it passed, I still get the discount. It has been saving me a lot.

Got out of Chicago about a year ago after I walked up on a man who had been shot in the head in his car.

This was at a vintage clothing show in Dallas.

That type stuff is a little unnerving a few months ago was about to go to bed at our house in Longview and heard 4 gunshots very close looked out the dining room window and could see a man lying in the middle of the road. That is why we had to get out of the city.

Yeah, definitely unnerving. I walked up on it minutes after it happened, guys car was still running and it wasn't even dark yet. We were 1 mile from downtown too, surrounded by million dollar condos. Ended up being two business partners executed within 2 blocks of each other the same night. That was the last straw for us in Chicago. .
