I am not concerned. Ronnie's a gamer. But, I want to see what he can do with a full healthy season. I just bought two more Acuna RC's a few minutes ago. Go Acuna and stay healthy!!!

Reminds me of the panic selling and the resultant price drop last season when he got hurt. It was a great buying opportunity which offered 200-500% ROI. I am buying Acuna and Soto on the dip even though I sold some duplicates recently.

Even with the recent slump, he's looking at a 6.5 WAR projected for the season. That's typically in the running for MVP. Another big hot streak and that figure gets bumped heavily.

While true, this is where stats can be misleading as I think most on here would acknowledge he’s not even top five mvp right now (not saying he can’t get there. It’s a long season).

I think it's more to the effect of Beckett and Topps having their own RC card standards and definition of what a rookie is. I wouldn't blame the collectors as much as the supposed experts. The companies are making the situation more confusing by the year. I'm sure some people like the heritage New Age Performer and Now and Then cards as well. They also have the rc logo. However I don't see many people trying to claim those as rookies... Because their infact inserts. He has a base from that set. Autograph or not. The 83's were also inserts. I think it's been stated previously. Collect what you like regardless. |

Did the same as well last year. People seem to be holding still, but I'll gladly buy if people start to panic.

Dodgers playing Braves Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Question I have a 2018 Topps Gold Label series 3 Ron Acuna RC. What do you think about this rookie card? Is it a key RC?

MLB has gotten to the point of babying players so much, it seems like everyone gets one game a week off anymore, just to "rest". Super annoying, especially if you go to a game planning to see the players.

Acuna returns to the line up Monday.
They gave him a day off to rest and heal a bit. |

Yep. An important thing to remember with these young studs is how careful teams are with them. I know the White Sox really pampered Moncada initially...going hard from 1st to 3rd? Pulled from the game—off tomorrow. Overly cautious. It’s all a part of protecting the investment. The better a kid is, the more protecting you see. A player can quickly get the injury prone tag as a result—but don’t be fooled—it’s all likely coming from management. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think there was a correction bound to happen, even without his injury. That recent jump was just too fast and big without a real performance-based explanation. Maybe it was Vlad dollars being reinvested, maybe people just got overexcited. Either way, can't say I'm super surprised--just wish I could have dumped more cards during the rush.
