so glad the suns got away from him and his contract! being in the phx, that team from top (ownership) to bottom has a lot of dysfunction and he didn't help at all and a stiff breeze would knock him out for a month.

Sounds like what haters would say. KD was the only bright spot last season. They were 3-17 without him. Good luck moving away from that beal contract

Say what you want about KD, but his passion for the game is unmatched. Last edited by NBAicons; 06-25-2025 at 06:54 PM. |

Correction: Suns called the Cavs wanting Garland. Cavs said they wanted KD, multiple 1sts, and to dump salary. Suns didn't hang up, but ultimately couldn't find a 3rd team, or KD wouldn't sign off on it. For those too lazy to click: "Windhorst emphasizes that Phoenix initiated the trade talks, stating that Cleveland isn’t reaching out to teams in an effort to unload Garland. He adds that the Cavs’ response was to ask for Durant and “other assets” in a potential deal, which likely would have been “multiple first-round picks.” Presumably that would have included a 2029 first-rounder that originally belonged to Cleveland (though the Jazz now control swap rights on that first-rounder, so there’s no guarantee the Suns will end up with the Cavs’ pick). Windhorst states that Phoenix “didn’t hang up the phone” when presented with that scenario. He also notes that the Cavaliers would have needed to offload salary before taking on Durant, stating that they contacted at least one team to see if there was interest. Ultimately, the talks ended before getting serious because Durant didn’t want to play in Cleveland, according to Windhorst, who points out that the forward had a limited number of desired destinations, reportedly Houston, San Antonio and Miami."

Shocked! Why won't they trade a 25 year old, 2 time All star who's under team control for a 37 year old who doesn't want to be there or a next sniffed an all star game guy like Jalen Suggs????

He either wants to avoid state income tax, or he really likes tortas.

The rockets are STACKED and have an MLE. Sat way what you want about age, he played lights out defense and can still score at an elite level. Essentially replacing both Brooks and Green. Not to mention the depth the rockets already have plus an MLE left to use. Talks of dumping Jock Ladale and his 8 mill to go after another guy is being discussed as well. Great move overall. Opens up cap space for a huge FA if Durant wants out/retires and you lost no one. *stfu if you say green is someone. He is pure A** and I’ve watched it long enough.

He's now going into his fifth year with very marginal improvement over his career so far, hasn't even been close to an all-star berth |

Because he played a terribly inefficient game highlighted by terrible shot selection paired with inconsistent shooting. He knocked that geriatric lady up and ran off some decent games last year, but the real ones knew it was lighting in a bottle. I’m beyond grateful he’s gone. One of my all time hated Houston sports players.

It was annoying to see the news that he once again changed teams, but on further reflection, it's kind of refreshing that he's embracing the team hopper/journeyman label. He's a guy who likes change and new experiences -- good for him.

Durant came back from a devastating achilles injury and carried the Nets on his back while Kyrie was out fighting social injustice.
He went to Phoenix to be in a better situation and the Suns pulled off one of the worst trades in NBA history by getting Bradley Beal and depleting the team of draft picks and other players that could have been on the court. I like the situation in Houston because he will be surrounded by a bunch of younger players hungry for a championship.

KD's main responsibilities are going to be to bail out the offense when they stall/really need a bucket and play passable D.
It's right in his wheel house. It would be nice if he took on a veteran leadership kind of role, too. But he hasn't really been the leader-type and they have FVV and Udoka to do that. Houston was the best place for him to land this summer. I hope it's HOU-OKC in the WCF and everyone's healthy.
