No Black Cat this time. I think it's the first time she's been left out of a MM set.

Who's to say it is being rushed? This is a 2024 set, so I'd say it's actually on-time, roughly speaking.

Yea that’s the mindblowing thing…you see some of these oddball characters in here, many I’ve legit never heard of, and then no Black Cat.

I wonder if UD/ the artist (whoever is making the decision on character inclusion) is in tune with the hobby enough to know how many collectors there are of characters like Black Cat, Silver Surfer, and Thanos.

Black cat indeed was in each new MM except only as a battle spectra in 2018. (if we are including 90s she wasn’t in 93MM). Pretty popular character to bypass.

Just realized no Deadpool either. Quite a lineup of missed characters.

Deadpool could at least be due to floating in and out of banned territory I guess. He was missing in MM XL and not sure if he’s been in stuff since. But at the time of actually painting these probably banned or something. Those other characters not as much an excuse for though.

Ok, so the 99-ish count of new paintings that Nahuel mentioned in interviews is making a bit more sense now.

It turns out that they appear to have re-used some of Nahuel's art from the Marvel Legendary TCG for the Holofoils and possibly even some Canvas. This also could partially explain some of the unusual choices for characters, especially on the inserts.

So far I have seen at least Minster Sinister, Monet St. Croix, Sentinels, Strong Guy, Random, Silver Samurai, Crystal and Warpath where the Holofoil is Marvel Legendary TCG art that Nahuel has previously shared on his Instagram up to 4 years ago in some cases. I think I found a matching Legendary TCG card for Black Bolt on google, but I don't see it on Grego's Instagram.

Pretty sure the Medusa Canvas Gallery is re-used art as well - it looks very similar.

I don't really have an issue with this, since I still enjoy the art, and it's new art to me, but it's interesting nonetheless. I'm guessing this was a requirement in order to get enough cards together to release the full set, so that's another reason why I am fine with it. I'd rather it be this way than an alternative where the set isn't released at all.

Glass half full on this missing a ton of characters I collect is that it's going to save me so much money. One can only imagine how good Grego's Venom would have looked.

I think the work looks pretty good from the video and stills.

The video claimed sketches were available. Is this true as it is not on the checklist?

And they don't look like one sketch per box if so.

Grego was the only artist who did sketches. I've been hearing it's about 25 sketches, so will be a massive chase in this set. Definitely nowhere near one per box or even one per case.

Thanks. And yes I saw quoted 25 sketches done by Grego.

Nice to see Beast getting some love with the box cover…didn’t see that one coming.

That Framed Masterpieces looks like a pretty cool parallel.

Art looks solid. It does remind me much more of a modern MM than a 90s MM set. By that I mean the overall darker palette with plenty in shadow. Like if I saw an uncut sheet of this I bet the overall tone would be somewhat darker. I’ll be looking forward to collecting this. I am glad though that UD did release the 92MM platinum set because it reminds me so much more of the 90s, my fav era- the shininess, brighter tone on regular stock and not the thick stock (and of course is itself a 90s set).

That’s pretty nuts considering I’ve seen the sketch slot listing in breaks on eBay go for like $150 on a 6-boxer.

If I’m running the numbers correctly a 6-box break has like a 1 in 92 chance of hitting a sketch then. $150 for a 1 in 92 chance

The Framed card design does look very nice. The cards also come in a penny sleeve out of the pack.

You're right, Dyna -- the artwork in this set has heavy amounts of shadowing, similar to 2018 and 2020. I think it's a way for the artist to streamline the painting process and cheat on the level of detail.

I had absolutely no idea sketches were THAT limited for this set (25 total). And I would assume more people dont know that. So the people who win the sketch spots in those breaks are possibly gonna be in for a painful discovery.

Watched a few box breaks and I must say thats its nearly all niche characters with barely any big names in this set. The art is also simply not on the level of Jusko, Palumbo or DaSantos.

I dunno I was excited for this set but the box breaks have been very underwhelming.

I legit never heard of half the characters from that box

Also, with everything being numbered, is a /25 even a good hit or would that be just the expectation?

Kinda agree, it does seem more like a rushed set, UD scrambling to put together before the deadline. The Marvel Legendary reused art thing mentioned- haven’t seen that since 07-08 in MM. No other sketch artists. No even red spectrum 1/1s for some reason. No battle spectra. The huge amount of D-list characters with some missing big names. I dunno….doesnt seem to be a full out Masterpieces set to me. The Spider-Man base card does look very cool though.

Have watched 3 videos.

The one above yielded a /25 Ghost Spider Metallurgy.

Others a green 25, blue 49, framed 99. Next a Diamond /50 holofoil and other moderate numbered.

Ghost Spider, Iron Man framed, Spiderwoman only notable names to me of the heavies.

Looks more like it should be titled Fleer Ultra X-Men given the number of X-Men related characters.

Overall the set is a bit lackluster with the missing characters, parallels, and inserts, but there are some real gems as well. Spidey is good and my Spidey Miles is spectacular. I'll be picking up a lot of Miles. I don't collect Storm or Iceman, but those really stand out to me as well.
