Glasnow makes sense to me. High risk, high reward, short commitment.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...tani-juan-soto

Several ESPN baseball writers predicting Ohtani announces he’s signing with the Dodgers next week. I still think Yamamoto is the way to go, but I guess the front office is determined to get Ohtani.

Hey Everyone,

Longtime member here, but mostly a lurker. Lifelong Dodgers fan (50 plus years) and baseball collector since the 70s. In addition to Dodgers players, I used to also collect players from other teams; however, I my main focus is that of Dodgers. I have some modern, but most of what I collect is non modern. I plan to get more involved in modern.

For modern, what brands do you collect and do you have specific players you can't buy enough cards of? There are so many modern variation, I'm interested and curious what others focus on.

Thanks...

Hey, Blue Crew!

Can’t go wrong with Topps and Topps Chrome. I also buy Bowman Chrome for the prospects, and usually spend a good amount on promising Dodger prospects. I stay away from anything unlicensed, unless it happens to be a mixed group break with multiple products, most of which are Topps.

Hey...Thanks for the response. Interesting you mentioned Bowman Chrome because I was researching that earlier today. Do you do Sapphire or just Chrome?

Thanks again!

No problem. I like Sapphire, I just don’t buy boxes. I buy singles of Dodger prospects and I do group breaks.

Makes sense. No interest in buying boxes. Would you mind sharing which group breaks? I'm interested in that as well. Thanks!

Sure. I’m a regular patron of Cardsmiths Breaks. They are California based breakers, for the most part. I also do Platinum and a few others, but not very often. They have an app you can download to your phone. They steam on Twitch.

I collect Dodgers prospects and Dodgers rookie cards- Topps, Update, and Topps Chrome. Some Bowman. I colllect Garvey, Cey, Lopes, and Russell-Rookie cards to 1982-Topps, OPeeChee, Kellogg’s, odd ball. I collect Fernando Rookie cards and second yr cards. I’m working on Dodgers card 1974 and before. Close to finishing 1974 Topps set. Slowly working on 1963 Topps and Fleer

I also collect some of those players. Cey was my idol growing up and I still collect his cards. Each one brings back fond memories as a kid in the 70s.

Looking forward to taking a deeper interest in collecting some Bowman 1st cards.

Thanks...

So it looks like the Dodgers need to find a right fielder.

Dave Roberts has said he expects Mookie to be their primary second baseman.

I don’t understand this thinking unless there is a trade or free agent signing of a right fielder. Is Pages or LeDuca ready to play in the big leagues? Heyward is a platoon player, Outman is the center fielder.

Well, it’s seems like a clear sign that we’re not trading for a SS like Adames. Dave is clearly thinking Mookie at 2B and Lux at SS. Perhaps this signifies that we are angling for an outfielder via trade????? Pages and DeLuca are not sure things in the corner outfields. I heard Joc Pederson has been in contact.

No offense to Joc, but the Dodgers need a better outfielder than him

I love Ohtani, but 70 million per?!

We don't even know if he will ever pitch again...still need at least 2 new starters for next season.

Exactly! I’m not really getting any joy outta this signing even though I am also a big Ohtani fan. This could be a major albatross down the road, especially if he never pitches again. I knew $600 mil was a possibility, but $700 mil is crazy.

Say hello to $30 tall boys at the ravine.

Other than replacing jd with ohtani which is an upgrade, how are they better than last year?

Dodgers no longer care about the luxury tax. We’re now the early 2000’s Yankees. All in every year, damn the money.

Well only cohen really blew past it and that lasted only about a year. The penalties make 350m payrolls hard to sustain.

Next stop: Yoshinobu Yamamoto?

My message to all you fair-weather and band-wagoning Doyers fans:

Enjoy the Angels' sloppy seconds. His best years were spent in Anaheim.

Pujols 2.0

A lot of the money will be deferred, which will allow them to sign FA pitching and our farm system is so deep, they may trade for top shelf pitching...

I agree the money is crazy, the Dodgers have room for pitching...

Not even close and NO comparison between Pujols and Ohtani at this stage of their careers with the Dodgers...

But comments like yours were expected...
