As the majority on this thread know Ohtani is my number 1 PC guy and I normally stick to low end cards. I was wondering if anyone else has been noticing that some of his cards have been selling for more recently than when he was playing this season. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this trend and if anyone had an explanation. I was assuming it was now the off season and I was hoping to find some good deals!

i think people are waking up to how great he is, especially given his nationality and the history of the game

I am still expecting prices across the board to go down like a normal off season and then to ramp up during spring training like normal. Who here thinks Ohtani cards will see a significant bump next season (assuming Ohtani plays like Ohtani)?

I think everything baseball will trend down soon, if it hasnt trended down already. Unless he gets traded to a team without its head up its butt, or Elon Musk buys the Angels or something.

Graded base has dropped like a rock already. I expect that category to warm up with spring training. I have a shoebox full of them to fund my next PC card for 2023. Base will always be cyclical.

Graded and non-graded premium rookie cards have not dropped at all - rain, snow, or shine. I purposely leave a number of graded monster cards out there with very high BINs just to see what offers come in. They are strong as ever.

Autographs have not dropped at all. If anything, the prices of the new "c-minus" autographs are making the rookie autographs look like a better deal. That will fix itself one way or another. Hint, hint.

Ohtani has about ~25 bWAR going into his age 28 season with close to 19 bWAR coming from just the past 2 years. He really just needs a couple more monster years and a handful of solid years to coast to the Hall of Fame. That sounds incredibly doable and exceedable for this man. Hold for the long haul.

I hear you, brother. But he asked about the value of cards. Unfortunately, that stuff matters to a lot of people. I've personally gotten to a point where I just have fun collecting anything Ohtani that catches my eye. It's liberating.
