I’ve probably shared this story before, but it’s a fun one about NNO PSA 10’s... About a year ago, I was bidding on quite a few that were ending within seconds of each other. I wanted to win maybe five of them, but it would’ve been nearly impossible to track each auction in real time, and then move onto the next one as I tried to last-second bid on each one. So I just put in bids on about 15 of them.

They had been going for around $65 at the time, so I put in $60 bids on all of them, hoping to get some deals. WELP, I won 13 of them. And when I realized what had happened, I panicked that I had gone way over budget.

Turned out to be one of the more fortunate mishaps I ever fell into!

Im glad I picked up some stuff. Nothing too exciting, but wouldn't mind making a few bucks and buying something pc.

Haha! I accidentally accepted a best offer of $1400 on a Soto HMT55 Red Refractor when I dropped my phone on the keyboard and it hit the enter key. Was about $300 over going rate at the time.

I'd buy every single one I could find at that price now.

Question for you all..are the update base rookies worth grading? I did several breaks last year of jumbo updates and am sitting on a ton of his cards, and a good number I think would Gem, or is it just better to wait and see if he blows up this year then just send out at that point because you can always move them later?

I’m grading everything worth grading NOW so I’m prepped when he goes BOOM. That way I’m not waiting whatever ridiculous timeframe PSA or BGS is working at. I’ll have most everything of mine back in time for spring training.

I think the X-Fractor might have been the last hold out from the days of the cheap prices. Got it for just $120. I was going to just pick up a regular Holo Prizm of Vlad's Rookie Signature but when I saw the PSA 10 of the Blue Kaleidoscope (/35) I knew I had to get one to match up with my Tatis.

Panini has some WHACK designs, but MAN some of their designs make me wish they had a license.

I have a strict No Panini policy. But I keep getting mesmerized by the Bichette Optic autos—especially the black border.

Agreed! Except when they have those awful sticker autos floating in the middle of nowhere. I would take an unauto'd version over one of those any day

Yeah, I would say I don't like the vast majority of Panini baseball products but the stuff I do like I LOVE. The Donruss Optic Rated Rookies and Optic Rookies autos are definitely cards that I love. I've picked up quite a few low serial-numbered ones of Tatis.

I don't know but now I have to look into it. I think that would be hilarious if they were.

I concur. The Kaleidoscope are almost like superfractors except the circles are bigger and prices are smaller. And Sapphire has made me love the ice feature on all cards now.

Tatis looks like he has sunglasses on in the Prizm photo. Those could have been added though because that's a remarkable coincidence.

Arthur

ETA: Nope. His right elbow is in a different location, too. Wonder if they're from the same game though?

Prizm looks like a day game, sharp shadows, sunglasses, bare left arm. Topps photo, blue sleeve on left arm, looks overcast.

Wow. That might’ve landed in Haiti...

I very much like this physically-fit version of Vlad.

Raul Valdes born 1977, age 43, sat 87-88 & touched 90 in 2011. 140 major league innings...but that pitch looked like a BP fastball. Catcher set up inside so I guess he decided they should challenge Vladdy 3-2. Oops.
