This is it really. PEDs aren't so much about becoming a beast - they're about recovery.

I've said there should be contract ramifications in the past. Not a fan of one strike and you're out simply because there is always a chance of a false positive.

I think any contract you have should be void and your team has first right to sign you for league minimum for 3 years, if they decline then you become a free agent but no team can sign you for more than league minimum for 3 years.

PEDs can have a big impact on your speed...if you train for speed.

I imagine his test was back in March (like Colabello's) and that the appeals process just finished.

Not the best time for this news ...

2008 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Devaris Strange Gordon 1 1 | eBay

And after the Marlins and Mattingly had just gone into LA and completed a 4 game sweep. Crazy.

Real easy to say when there is no way you will get that kind of job offer.

That is why there is a players union, they would never allow that to happen.

Haha. Love it. Hopefully the Mets will be able to win more easily without that pest always finding his way on base.

The Marlins season hit an all time high, and low, in the same night for me. Always loved Dee when him and Donnie were with the Dodgers, was super bummed to see him traded at that time. Now I'm back rooting for him on the Marlins and this happens... I'm in shock.

The fans pay good money to be entertained by these athletes. Cable bill, tickets and merchandise... It ain't cheap.

At the end of the day they don't actually own any stock in these franchises, but they do own the right to have an opinion, though... however harsh it may be.

I don't feel too badly for these guys. When you make big money in the entertainment industry.... you are taking the good with the bad. He still has all the money he has made doing what he loves.... so what if the poor guy's ego takes a hit.

True, but not just the news, why would you not put "Dee" in your title? How many people are you missing that way? I didn't even know that was his name...

I initially thought the same thing, but then thought that if someone were willing to spend money on his superfractor (not cheap), they'd know his full name anyway or already be a collector.

Not sure how much of an impact Dee Gordon had on the series but I can see why Verlander would have expressed his opinion that they should not be playing while appealing as it allows them to keep impacting games.

I understand that. But that also reinforces the fact that it would be a significant deterrent.

You just missed the triple crown of testing. Way to go guy!

Clearly you are on the decline.

Nah you were not the only one and from what I can see he has yet to appear in this thread.

Just another of MANY who just had not been caught yet!

Whoever convinced Dee that it was a good idea, stay the hell away from Christian Yelich.

BTW, I am a little more shocked cause I am sure "Flash" wouldn't approve.

Exactly, guys are trying to recover faster to play more. That's the end of the story, people need to get off their high horse. Why do you think your so called "legends" were popping greenies everyday back in the 60's and 70's. Get over yourself and stop pretending you wouldn't do the same damn thing.

It's interesting how things like cortisone shots and Tommy John surgery are viewed in such a different light. I wonder if somewhere down the line, some of these so-called PEDs will find their way into the list of "acceptable" treatments that a player would just routinely undergo.

Why would surgery and illegal drugs be viewed in the same light? Anabolic steroids aren't just against baseball rules.
