From my understanding, one of the reasons MLB integrated was because they wanted to weaken the Negro Leagues, which had become popular.

If true, the decision to incorporate the Negro League stats into MLB is like MLB pissing on the grave of the league they helped kill off.

You look at single season WAR and... I get it, Old Hoss Hadburn put up great numbers against people who just arrived at the ballpark after a day in the coal mines. That doesn't really tell me anything about how to measure statistical seasons nowadays.

It shows you the talent pool in the Negro Leagues was pretty darn thin and using these stats as “official” is obviously inflating them.
