Best. Analogy. Ever.
Everyone knows prequel toys are worthless. Try looking up some of the store exclusives.

Your analogy only works if Prizm retail is destined to sit around in bargain bins. It will never make it to the bins in the first place.

neither did the early rebooted SW figures.

I'm not sure how you're missing the point here. Or not following the discussion.

Base, low numbered stuff = worthless prequels toys.

Golds, etc = store exclusives.

In the early days of SW everything sold out and flew of the shelves. Later - like the guy above said - it was worthless. You said MANY were valuable. Now you say store exclusives, which is FEW.

Prizm is flying off the shelves, base is selling for high $$$. But it's so overprinted, that like the SW figures - in the future - it could be worthless.

I have made the best analogy in the history of Blowout.

At least with the toys you could give them to your kids as presents.

I said try looking up store exclusives not that they're the only Star Wars toys not hanging around at msrp. You can do your own research.

I'm following the discussion just fine. It's just that, except for repeating the same overprinted comment everyone else has made, your analogy doesn't hold water.

I gave them all to my kid when he was born. He loved them.

You're not following it fine, or you wouldn't double down on your terrible take.

Below is a reply from someone who understood.

A co-worker of mine at GameStop, who was in his 30's, told me that it was a fool's errand unless I just enjoyed them. Laid it out that if everyone has the same idea to buy these figures and hold them to cash out later, nobody is going to make a dime since there's nobody to buy them off of you.

Stopped buying them and instead only bought stuff I liked. Years later, when I moved, I decided to sell off my figures and low and behold, the stuff I bought just to have and collect (MGS, Rocky, Bioshock, and other lines) were worth a ton while my Star Wars figures were eventually donated due to not being worth much of anything.

Still can't believe people are buying things like WWE Prizm or retail of this thinking that years from now it'll be worth 10x what you paid for it. Not gonna happen, this stuff is printed to Mars.

99% of the Star Wars figures, store exclusives or not, never gained much value above MSRP. I had a lot of store exclusive figures from the prequels and I just looked a few up and they were going for less than what I bought them for. I also had a few Celebration and Disney World exclusive figures, also not worth much more than what I had paid. Lastly, also had a few of the variant figures, like Luke with a bloody stump figure, and those are also not going for much.

Not sure which store exclusives have exploded though since I stopped collecting after the prequels wrapped up.

Nothing in the discussion says anything about prices exploding, only that many items are worth more than their original sticker price if you chose carefully what to collect.

Again, not all Star Wars toys were prequel trash, so what's your point in reposting this unless you're saying buying purely to resell is a losing proposition? Thanks but I learned that already (and not from Star Wars figures either).

As I said, try looking up some other items instead of quoting the lowest ebay sold listings if you're claiming that all but a handful of the newer toys are losers.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Go back and read carefully a few times without your ego involved. I think everyone else understands the analogy pretty well.

Wait… is there a Grogu in Prizm this year?
Sweet!

Also, just opened two blasters and two Megas did not get anything.. the set is saturated with not so good old pros like Jake Plummer, Drew Bledsoe etc… also all the RC parallels were no names.

If you didn't pay aftermarket prices, I still think it's a win to open some just for fun. I have notoriously bad luck with boxes/retail, but if I get my hands on some without paying a premium, I'll open, just for fun.

100%. I would never buy this on the secondary market, but I will grab it if I ever see it in the stores. There's enough value to keep me happy.

Got confirm I got 6 of the Fanatics exclusive Megas. Just as I had given up hope (lost the last 4 raffles), they pull me back in!
