I'm not so sure it's a crapshoot, it's just tough to tell which matchups will really play. Elite SPs and bullpens become even more important.

Yanks and Dodgers trying to restore order.
Obviously, that would make the best World Series for MLB, although another Subway World Series would also garner some big ratings.

There doesn't appear to be a great answer for both giving the best teams a benefit and not having them have several days off. That's why they had the 1-game wild card for awhile, and a lot of people hated that too.
The benefit is getting to play a team you are theoretically better than.

Baseball is such a game of timing and rhythm and momentum that the bye doesn't make sense. Just move it to 8 teams. You want to give the top seeds an advantage, make the DS like the wild card round, all the games at the better seeds home field.

San Diego buy that umpire dinner especially if you have a comeback.

Umpire didn’t do anything, the ball hit off Machado’s glove onto him.

NFL is kinda broken. They have a salary cap with 32 teams but no real parity.

MLB has no salary cap but more parity. We don’t know who’s going to win. In the NFL we know Jackson, Herbert, Stroud and Allen are not beating a spags defense in the playoffs. The fundamentals at the qb position are broken. Baseball and the NHL have the most parity and are better for it.

But when you’re the goat you can get away with that.

Mahomes is a minority owner in the Royals. Also, he plays football across the street. It really isn't that big of a deal.

Just wait until he brings Taylor tomorrow.

You can almost feel it when Ohtani has the pitcher tracked. If I am the pitcher after he crushed that foul ball I am holding up 4 fingers.

And that’s another poser. She’ll dump kelce once the chiefs stop winning.

So true one of the great mysteries of life how certain players can’t handle postseason pressure.

Unless Tatis has a couple of Grand Slams in him in the same inning like his old man did, this one's prolly over, so here's a list:

Top 10 Postseason Home Runs, All-Time

1. *Manny Ramirez - 29
2. **Jose Altuve - 27
3. Bernie Williams - 22
4. Kyle Schwarber - 21
5. Derek Jeter - 20
6. Corey Seager - 19
6. Albert Pujols - 19
6. **George Springer - 19
6. **Alex Bregman - 19
10. Reggie Jackson - 18
10. Mickey Mantle -18
10. *Nelson Cruz - 18
10. **Carlos Correa - 18

Yep, a 4 way tie for 6th and 10th. Obviously the list is skewed heavily towards modern players as the playoff format has greatly expanded the number of games played in recent years. With Philly and Houston already bounced, it won't be changing any from the above through the World Series, although Schwarber's lone bomb this year did move him past Jeter for sole possession of 4th place.

For the most part it does but certain players stats remain consistent to their regular season stats.

Sure and also certain players way overperform their regular season stats even in cases where those are quite impressive. Steve Garvey and Mariano Rivera come to mind, both with a decent enough amount of playing time in the postseason for it to be meaningful.

But that isn’t the point. Most of the posters decrying how poor some guys are doing are expecting things that are not the norm. And that’s the point. It’s no surprise that many hitters have pathetic stat lines in their playoff careers. It’s not uncommon even in HOF caliber players.
