Haha yeah, between the two, I don’t think much ground was gained or lost tonight. Hoping for a bit more trading punches in the upcoming games. I just want to see a battle.

at first my snipe was at 5500 trying to steal it, i adjusted it a day later to 8888 and then 9111 a day before the auction ended

tbh 9k was the most i was willing to go so i threw an extra 100 just in case, in the back of my head i was thinking there was a possibility of this going over 10k at the end of the auction

seeing the debut batting update gold going for 6750 today makes me feel good abt it

Baseball is a very hard game and even the greatest hitters go through stretches like he is in. He will get to 40 sooner or later, even 50 in my mind. With them walking him so much, 30/30 might be in reach.

Having his stuff graded and in hand will work wonders down the line.

So how many people here are selling to lock in profits (possibly to buy more when prices fall in the off season)? I find it interesting that despite Ohtani slumping a bit (at least hitting wise) his prices seem to be pretty steady. I am not selling. Would like to buy more but not finding many deals of what I collect (low to mid end raw).

I'm selling because I dont collect him and I can use that money towards something I do collect.

Only thing left is an HMT1 Pink Refractor. Sold through anything else of his.

Selling once things return from SGC as I did before. Kept 1 SGC 10 the TC150. I do not collect him. Use the money for other stuff.

I guess this question was more directed at collectors/investors to see if they were getting nervous about his slump or are keeping the course.

Yes this is me...I collect him although I haven't bought anything in a month or two...trying to lock in some profits on cards I have multiples of and hedge my bets a bit.

Purely investor from stuff I pulled. I have 4 cards I purchased, $60 for the lot. If they gem all but 1 will be sold as I like the Topps gold label 1

2018 was the last year I was able to break a lot of wax myself (i.e. not going through breakers). I, also, was grading him early and was sitting on quite a bit... mostly base, but some refractors, autos, etc. sprinkled in.

Going into the season... after holding for the last 2... I didn't have quite the faith in Ohtani for 2021. So, as we speak, I'm still waiting on small stacks of Acuna, Soto, and (unfortunately) Torres that are sitting at PSA from subs I sent before their bulk shutdown. This left me sitting on about 20-25 Ohtani PSA 10's... and somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 raw rookies.

I've been in the hobby 31 years now... profit is profit. As of today, I've sold off just about every Ohtani I own... with the exception of my 2 best. Those, I'll continue to hold for the time being.

I definitely locked in my profit, however. No regrets. I've never been a collector, per say, of Ohtani... but I'm a fan. I had enough faith to hold what I did for this long, mostly on hope, and that has paid off this year. Worse case, I made a nice profit and I'm left with 2 nice cards I can enjoy at essentially no cost!

Even if his hitting is slumping. Vladdy Jr is in a slump too. Ohtani's pitching has been lights out. Not worried.
