I can’t imagine where you could trade him to get an adequate return. With three years left on his deal (2 team option years) that are well below market value and that he plays at an MVP level when healthy I can’t see it. 2 years from now if the team is in the tank and they can get an absurd haul (see: Soto to the Padres) then maybe.

But this year? No chance.

I suppose if they feel they can go for it all right now, may not be a bad move for the mariners.

Many braves fans would have their hearts broken, though.

I think you’re right, but the issue for Braves fans is that we have not kept our stars/fan favorites. We didn’t resign Freeman and we didn’t resign Swanson. I get letting Fried walk considering the contract he got.

As a fan I want him to stay of course, but the fear is that we won’t offer him enough in 3 years and he’ll simply walk for nothing

For sure - heckuva deal. It runs out in 3 years though I believe. One more year plus 2 option years that we’ll exercise. It’s the question of after that, and he’ll only be 30 then

Yeah, I saw it on MLB Now too. For context, tt was Sherman, Brian Kenney and Carlos Pena talking about it. It's Kenney's show and if you've ever heard him talk about Acuna, he basically just hates him. Seems to stem from his flamboyance. They did a whole segment on how the Braves won't win anything in the next three years because their core players like Albies and Harris have deteriorated (apparently irreversiblely) and their pitching is so irreparably ravaged by injury that this group's window is closed, so they should sell Acuna now for the next rebuild. Kenney also threw in the jab that, without Acuna, they won the WS and overachieved and made the playoffs last year. I don't dislike Kenney, but he seriously despises Acuna and craps on him every chance he can. This is the nothing burger of all nothing burgers. Fear not, Braves fans...

Yeah I heard Kenney say that as well but didn’t know he hates Acuna. And I like Kenney….

How long does his knee last? He is a very good player, but TWO surgeries on the knee!!! Not good. In my opinion that is a clear sign of “proceed with caution”.

Trade him at his peak to get maximum value as I wouldn’t trust the knee for long term value
