Been slowly picking up stuff in specific spots. I got a Montgomery club RC auto /5 for around 250 late last year. It was getting silly for a while.
Agree 100%. People are always looking for the next big thing... with his international following, and how dynamic he is, the sky is the limit. Just needs a season of full health. I wouldn't write him off. He's still quite young, and never had issues in Japan.

If he starts off the season rolling like 2018 his cards will explode. Obviously that is a big "if," but certainly a possibility.

My last Ohtani pickup (or so I keep telling myself) before ST arrived today just in time for the good news

Felt like a double dip as his prices softened after 2020 plus got the Pajama discount!

IMO the starting pitcher experiment needs to end. I am concerned he will get hurt again this year if they try it. He is much better off acting as a reliever throwing 3-4 innings a week

Great news. I haven't watched him, but that means the mechanics are back. Last year's one outing was painful to watch from first pitch. Looked like he was shot putting the ball to the catcher.

He’s been actually ticking up a bit. Saw a heritage refractor go for almost $90 today (a psa 9)

Can’t wait to sell everything

Yes, I'm liquidating all my Ohtani.
Best of luck to those that hold.

There's more than enough new collectors to soak up the supply if you want to get off the train. One thing this hobby has taught me is that pricing is based off of people's emotions. Few things are more exciting than a dude hitting bombs and throwing 100.

Currently down to needing 15 out of 63 for Shohei's PSA rookie run...If anyone is looking to move a 2018 Transcendent #10 (/83), Diamond Icons (ACSO), or Dynasty's (APSO #1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7) and are interested in moving them (or even see them), I would love any and all help. I missed out on a Diamond Icons PSA 9 a few weeks ago and have been in hyper watch mode ever since.

Thanks for the look!

I didn't realize that I was sitting at the big kids table...

I just sent off some fun to be graded and crossed, until then, I will just admire the eye candy from the window.

Ohtani has not been an easy hold the past two years, but this year feels a bit different.

I have seven or eight copies of the Trani Icons 10. A few of them are at PSA after I made the fatefully timid decision to bulk them, so depending on how they come back, I may have one available later. It's a very nice card.

Easy sell here in 2022 if you are so inclined I would be humbled. 7-8/83?? I’ll go buy some floaties because the water is apparently deep here.

I hope he excels, it such a unique story, he’s insanely talented, and I love my hometown Angels, although I have mainly collected Yankees up until this Shohei run.

2018 Update was also $500/case and widely available then, so it's a different time. I find it peculiar that Ohtani has been disappointing, but a vast majority of my mid-end stuff has doubled since then. If that isn't a nutty breakout potential indicator for 2021, I don't know what is. People want to open their wallets for him.

7-8 /83 is light-mid weight on this forum. Everyday I'm humbled here. The Soto thread is a good example.
