I hope there are some distinguishing characteristics between the sketch cards from this 2014 Marvel Universe set and the one from 2011 and not just recycled card stock.

If that full autograph is John Romita Jnr then there are sketches in the set from actual Marvel Comic Book artists which is good. When is the last time anybody opened a comic book and found work that is the quality that Tony Perna puts into a sketch card? Comic book artists work on 11x17 boards and produce an image with less detail than your typical sketch card. Your expectations of the time and effort a historic comic book artist should put into a sketch card he got paid $3 to do is a bit unreasonable. I can't even fathom what that Thor sketch will sell for on the secondary market.

As I said, I wasn't surprised as my expectations were low. I did not expect him/them to put much time and effort in. That doesn't make it any less disappointing

Ugh, really wish I could speak my mind and be critical of sketch card artists. Oh well, maybe someday the sketch card community will be much more open and value criticism/opinions.

Anyways, I remember how much Romitas went for from Spiderman Archives. Prices have changed a bit since then so it'll be interesting to see what these go for and how scare they are (SPAs were <50). Hoping to snag one as I still regret selling the Romita, Green Goblin I pulled outa my ~5 cases of SPA.

You can speak your opinion all you want, but you have to be open to opposing opinions too. This is my opinion. Sketch card artists and comic book artists are not the same thing, and John Romita isn't just any comic book artist. Sketch card artists are heavily responsible for 'raising the bar' on sketch card quality.

I don't understand why people want more comic book artists to be on the sketch card list, but then expect them to do the cards like sketch card artists and not like comic book artists. If I pulled a Romita Spidey, I would want it to be done the same way he did it for ASM back in the day. I've got t-shirts with that guys work on it!

Not about you, Spider-Fan. I was insinuating artist's work, specifically sketch card artists. Sensitive and protective don't quite describe the "backlash." Anyways, new topic, was mostly venting with that statement.

Not me, I love any industry (comic) artists work. Seeing the new artist lists for a set (usually UD) and searching up their work on comics is something I personally enjoy. Premier was absolutely loaded (Igle/Sanford/Petrecca/etc.) though most were short-prints... hoping to see more sets like that. Yeah, Romita's previewed Thor card looks very similar to his SPA cards and I'm very good with that.... just hoping he did at least 30-50+.

I'm seeing Gold parallels listed for the "Avengers Origins" bonus set on both the Blowout site and Dacardworld. However, Rittenhouse does not have these listed on their site.

Does anyone know about these Gold parallel's?

It doesn't mention anything about the gold parallels associated with them.

Oh I see... I misread that. I thought the sub-bullet point was just a further description of the set. Didn't notice it said parallel set. Wow based on that math, this is going to be a 1,000 case product (12,000 boxes) I'm pretty sure that is a significant increase from what has typically been 6,000-8,000 boxes.

1 card per 2 cases x 5 cards x 100 each = 1,000 cases

Don't forget what they will include in archive boxes, as there are sure to be a fair number of them. In Star Trek, they are including 20 parallels numbered to 200 and 10 parallels numbered to 100 in each archive box.

Your math looks right. But we still don't know if they are actually doing those gold parallels. They are not listed on the Rittenhouse site (only Blowout and Dacardworld).

If they are on the sell sheets provided to BO & DA then it is pretty safe to assume they are doing them, I think. RSS sheet has been up for a while and I don't expect it to be updated until they post the final artist list and numbers.

Iggy... Yes and I have know idea how many archive boxes they typically do for a marvel set, but it would have to be a whole lot to knock that number down from 12,000 to 8,000.

That Mystique, Rogue, and Nightcrawler sketch is absolutely phenomenal! The attention to detail and the facial expressions are right on the money. Can't wait to see more!!

I exchanged emails with Steve Charendoff and he confirmed that there are NOT and gold parallels for the Avengers Origins bonus set. I believe is was due to a misprint that was sent out to the distributors. Apparently, every site that is selling this product still has the misprint in their listing.
