They did go a little crazy with the inserst, which is cool. I prefer they stick with sets of 9, but I'll surive

I think the most appealing idea is the 25 cards (each #d/75) out of 75 cards total, i.e., an insert set being spread across multiple releases. Should be fun to collect and good for dealers. I hope they do a nice job with that set.

I think the most disapponting idea is the Thor's Greatest Battles and Cap's Greatest Battles insert sets. I'm sure they will be delightful, but c'mon... You just did Marvel Greatest Battles and Cap & Thor each got 9 base cards featuring their greatest battles.

Looking forward to seeing some previews.

Mhegan said today that her cards they're using as incentives are almost four years old, I imagine they're using a stash of Melike's as well.

It says her cards are 'heroes and villains' but doesn't specify they were originally done for that release I like the look of the base cards. Huge improvement over the 2011 MU release.

By the time the last 25 card set rolls around, these could prove to be quite valuable.

Looks like they're trying the Upper Deck formula with the limited parallels. Interesting to see how well it catches on - in the case of Retro UD had the luxury of sports guys who buy all their other products blowing up interest.

These must be the ones she did where she was unaware RA "trimmed" the cards, and her artwork filled up the entire workspace. Glad these will get to finally see the light of day!

Personally, I think they pushed the envelope a little too far... But hey, if other people dig 'em then its just another thing I can sell to recoup a little bit of my money.

My preference, if you are going to have more than 2 levels of parallels (a common and a rare), then you need to spice the others up somehow. I have zero motivation to assemble five 100 card sets with identical art and just different background color. Topps did a nice job with the 'concept art' and 'heritage style' parallels for MA:I.

This set should be a good one. I finally have work that is starting to look like it belongs, Frank's killed it on this one, Francois Chartier's going to kill it with this one.....for some reason a bunch of us found a good groove for sketches on this set. I'm sure that the collectors will be happy with their pulls, and that the artists will be able to be proud.

Companies don't even use new artists for the bulk of their previewing, there's no way they'd use risky incentives as... incentives... unless they absolutely had to. Can't hurt that at least part of these seem to already be paid for.

I am a little surprised too. I thought they might want to spice up the incentives with some fresh blood... Achilleas Kokkinakis did some excellent work for WOM2.

The previews I've seen have been top notch. Only a tiny bit compared to the the entire run though.

I *was* excited for this series... but now i'm becoming a bit more wary of it. I'm not sure why, but the last few Rittenhouse boxes I've opened, i've been underwhelmed with the cut quality and the sketches. Even looking at the preview sketches in that ad... they're nice but... i dunno... they don't quite dazzle me like you might want from an ad that's supposed to show off top notch sketches...

I will say that the addition of shadowboxes is neat.

Not sure if my new-case-guy will get a call yet or not =P

I can see where you're coming from but have you taken a close look at the really average to poor looking Thor sketch ? If that full autograph is John Romita Jnr then there are sketches in the set from actual Marvel Comic Book artists which is good. Unfortunately, it also suggests that their sketches will be nice to find and own but otherwise nothing special which is a shame but not a big surprise.
