Usually I see about 2-3 cards I would like to get for the PC from Pop Century but very surprisingly this year I can easily see about 10-12 cards I would really like to add. I will probably realistically get about 3-4 but I think the must have is Eastwood, followed closely by Jackson, Pesci and Stallone. If he could only get Bill Murray and Schwarzenegger! Maybe for next year we could see some multi-sig custom cards like Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters, etc.

I have a question about the Leaf Newsflash cards - when they put Elon or Royal Family on a card I assume they dont pay them a licensing fee. Do they just buy the right to use the photo from the photographer?

Leaf and licensing don't mix.

It does bring up an interesting question, I suppose. Some of the SW folks look to be at press events or premiers, so those could easily have been licensed from Getty or whomever. For their hockey releases, since UD has the exclusive license, Leaf cards usually fall into two buckets--players appear with airbrushed jerseys, or they only appear with numbers in place of athlete pictures. I don't know if that means they have individual agreements with individual players, or there may be some sort of weird players' association or retired status in play.

For celebrities, there is no players' association, so I would assume they go the Getty route (obviously using Getty as a 'catch-all' for any professional photography organization).

Thanks for comments on licensing. So for anime cards, or other illustrations there is no licensing? If a person is in public eye you can just make a trading card of them? I like the look of the illustrated Gas trading cards

I suspect that for many of us, that doesn't actually make him any more desirable

Hoping for that sweet looking Macaulay Culkin with an actual Home Alone picture. Will probably end up with Honey Boo Boo instead.

Does anyone know how the legality of actual images work? They occasionally use them, but typically they always seem to be random photos, or even of a wax figure in Daisy's case.
