N/A worked! Thank you!

Customer service at CSG is incredible. Zero wait, get a live person. They take their time and know what they are doing. Wow.

Great customer service is a plus, glad they are staffed enough in one area. However they only have 10 graders that are already backlogged on orders and they take a month to check in a package. If they had a guaranteed 80 day service I would send some cards there, but I am not falling for a PSA backlog game again.

I think great customer service goes a long way. Had PSA been transparent about estimated times throughout the last year, I don’t think they’d be in as big of a bind as they are now.

Do you think CSG is being transparent about turnaround times? CGC is in a huge bind right now with their trading cards with bulk submissions from December being graded when they said 30 days. It is a complete disaster there, so I don't know why people have confidence in CSG just because they answer a phone quickly.

This is the thing that worries me. On eBay there are 1400 CSG cards and 1000 HGA cards. CSG has only been around a few months, but they don't seem to be grading that many more cards than HGA, which limits about 5000 cards a week. CSG has 10 graders and they would need 100 graders or more to keep up with current demand.

I having a feeling that the situation at CSG is not being dealt with in a transparent fashion and things already behind before PSA/SGC closed their lower level submissions. CSG admitted to already having a backlog weeks ago. CSG picks up the phone quickly is not transparency.

Do you work at CSG? You seem to be making a lot of absolute statements about the situation there

Have two orders sent, but figured I would throw them here to track since neither have logged in to CSG yet. Crossovers were done out of curiosity, and were PC cards anyway. Both were PSA 9s

GMA's bulk service is at 175 plus days. You can say what you want about GMA and their "grading", but they are transparent about their times. If GMA is being slammed right now, CSG is getting even more submissions. GMA has been around for 20 years and has a better handle on how many cards they can accept. The only thing I need to know is how many full-time graders GMA has. If anyone has the information and it is more than 5 full-time graders, it will be a horror show for CSG.

Hopefully a quick card grading question:

I recently pulled an /70 Topps Series 1 card, one of the top rookies, and noticed a small print line upon observation. It’s not visible straight-on, but at an angle and under lights, it’s noticeable. Does this automatically start my grade at 9 (overall) or does it just start my surface grade at 9? I know each company is different; I would probably expect a “9” at PSA, but curious if anyone has any experience in this space.

Thanks.

From their grading scale it looks like it automatically starts at 9 for the highest grade. A gem mint 9.5 can't have any surface flaws besides something under magnification.

Don't get him started. Every comment in this thread by him is basically about how bad CSG is behind. But PSA is ok, right? They'll get your cards back to you real soon.

PSA is horrific. After having an economy shipped in September last year I am done with giving grading companies the benefit of the doubt with their incompetence. I have 15 PSA vouchers I can still use, but I don't even want to deal with PSA right now. When have I ever said PSA is ok? Some people are giving them leeway because of ROI, but I am feed up with these made up turnaround times that turn into 6 extra months.

PSA, BGS, SGC last year, and COMC have all infuriated me. SGC is the only company that tried to fix their issues. CSG is going down the same path as PSA, BGS, and COMC in my opinion. I want CSG to be successful, but they need a plan to keep turnaround times manageable. This week it will be 100 days, then 120 days the week after, and 140 days will be listed by the end of this month.

The only companies that are trying to keep their promise of turnaround times are SGC, HGA, and GMA.

I dont know where your getting your 10 grader information. I have names or emails now of 5 people I have spoken to at CSG that are just admin, accounting and QA. I am quite confident that if they have that many people doing that kind of work, they have more than 10 graders. This is not a podunk company. They have been around a long time. Just not in sports cards. I trust they know what they are doing when it comes to processes.
What are you even doing I'm this thread? This is for CSG submitters. Not GMA pumpers or CSG haters. It serves no purpose to come in here and bash CSG.

I fully expect lead times to increase and they have increased estimated turn around times multiple times. But goodness, with PSA all the sudden shutting down subs, it's going to get ugly and that is not CSGs fault if they cant catch up. But, thankfully they have a desirable grading scale, nice product and are very affordable. So If i can get in the pipe at that rate and i get my cards like in 8 months, I am willing to live with that.

I also just got an invoice. I assume the invoice is automatic and the money will be taken out based on the card I gave them?

That happened to me as well. I ignored the first and they sent a second 2 days later. I called and they said that the card I gave wouldn't go through. I gave them a new card yesterday and the grades popped today.

About 3 minutes in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WutXeChwQM&t=1737s

They say they are scaling quickly, but what does that mean? Adding one grader a week.

I want them to succeed and use them. I am not a hater, but I saw this last year with SGC. SGC lost a lot of respect in the grading community and they had a decent reputation before. I like CSG slabs when subgrades are used. I just want companies to come in and guarantee a service. It has become accepted in the grading community that we need to wait 9 months to a year for bulk submissions.

As a collector who wants certain cards graded for my PC right now, I would rather have limits on cards submitted or even a lottery for submissions. Filling a warehouse with cards with no guarantees on turnaround times sickens me. I had to deal without having 70% of my collection sitting on shelves at PSA for the last 7 months. We have all accepted this from grading companies and I want this narrative to change.

You gloss over the fact that right before they say 10 the words “we have more than” and then right after 10 “full time graders”. Are you so naive to think and believe that THE WORLD’S LEADING GRADING COMPANY would not have the resources to figure out how to shift resources??? Do you really think that they only have 10 people in the entire company capable of grading???

I would hazard a guess that as an established multinational company who has a reputation world-wide as experts in the field of grading know a tiny bit more than some key-board doom and gloom warrior with a tinfoil hat and crystal ball.

CCG has done a slow roll out into cards (starting with TCG cards, slowly transitioning into sports cards). They hired arguably the world’s leading expert in card grading and took their time rolling things out. If you are going to hang your hat on a crystal ball and a feeling at least listen to everything they say and not regurgitate bits and pieces to fit your narrative.
