Just say that you can't provide any specifics and this will all go away.
Christ, man. You are either willfully ignorant or just plain dumb.

I've given you specifics as to how the Republican Party has targeted racists. I've given you examples of people being racist toward our only Black president. I've even given you a chart to show how a) connects to b).

I know it's not easy to find out you've been rooting for the racists all along. It doesn't mean you need to double-down, however.

You given nothing specific that is relevant to today. Don't yell at me for that.

Would I put this in a journal - not at all.

I was pointing out - the party that refused to wear masks on the hill - railed against masks and argued about wearing masks - on the hill had an infection rate 2.4 times higher than the party members who embraced masks.

With 8 months of data (so far) this shows a rather clear delineation between ideologies of wearing a mask and not. Regardless of your political affiliation - based on the data we currently have.
Zero credibility.

Please go back and reread what I wrote.

Further - no personal attacks please - it's unbecoming.

I was NOT making this about the country - I was making the case - ON THE HILL.

11 and 5 are the OUTCOMES of the n = population I pulled and that n = POTUS, VP, House and Senate - as a whole.

For every possible cross-section of the American population, you can always find a sub-culture of people on all sides of that cross-section.

Where I take issue is with the use of the word "MANY" by fungi2510. I'm certain there are racists who wanted Obama dead because of his color. But how MANY? 0.1% of the population? More? Less? When someone says, and I'll quote again:

Quote:
I think there is definitely the beginnings of the Civil War during Obama for the simple reason that an African-American man was in the White House. Many could not stand that, so yes there was a division at that point.
Consider what is being implied there. The fact that there were images on the internet and elsewhere of "him hanging from a noose, pics of him with a noose, memes of him as a monkey, memes of his wife as a monkey, memes referencing lynching him" does absolutely nothing to substantiate claims that the very color of Obama's skin sparked "the beginnings of a Civil War" and "(racial) division".

So there.

In all fairness, I was arguing that Republican Party openly courted racists and that the right lost their collective minds after Obama's election.

Without substantiating either one.

Maybe you have a sample size of 16 like your colleague.

Thanks, I agree to an extent but want to play devil’s advocate to elaborate on this a bit more.

Fictional scenario:

Let’s say Group A has group ideals that 95% benefit society, but also hold to a belief that members in Group B should be physically harmed or imprisoned because of an uncontrollable physical characteristic given at birth.

As a member of neither group, if I don’t agree with the negative 5% of Group A’s ideals and want to take action to support the well-being of Group B, does that make me phobic towards Group A? For me to not be considered phobic, do I have to take the position of, “well, I don’t like what Group A is doing to Group B, but who am I to judge?”

Sorry, for some reason my quote function doesn't work half the time.

In your scenario where a group is actually being harmed or jailed for something (even if it is in their control and they aren't hurting anyone) then I'd say it's absolutely acceptable to speak up about it and not being a "phobe" to the other group. I don't know if I come across this way on this thread since it's political and I like to go back and forth with people here but I really am a live and let live, get along with anyone who isn't a complete jerk kind of guy.
