I feel the same way. There are several members here who I would love to meet up with over a beer, talk about sports, cards, life in general.

Nope, but here's the problem: you take stuff like that and then anytime someone criticizes Obama, well, just another racist.

Then perhaps the Republican party should do a bit more to separate themselves from people and groups like that. Instead, the party has spent two generations openly courting them.

More generalizations.

Show me who created those despicable images, and then show me how the Republican party has openly courted them.

I think the problem is that it's so blatant now, much more in the open where before those kind of things were said behind closed doors or not at all.

and no, I'm NOT blaming Trump, Obama, or anyone else for this.

Seriously????

My sample size is my denominator..... and FYI - it is statistically significant
I didn't say it was too small - I said it was small as that is all I have to put in the numerator.

Republican lawmakers - had contempt for masks the same as the Administration and these same lawmakers argued - in chambers - about wearing masks. Republicans have LESS total members and higher infection rate.

Wear a mask - less transmission. Simple as that folks

That was great news when that happened.

I can post this until I'm blue in the face - go read about Lee Atwater and the Southern Strategy. It's a strategy that started with the Goldwater campaign trying to win back the Southern white vote and has continued in various iterations since.

There's a reason that white racists/supremacists/neo-Nazis vote Republican. There's a reason the birther movement was pushed by right-wing fringe groups before being picked up by mainstream Republicans. There's a reason human blobfish Tucker Carlson is a hero to the right.

It's not just coincidence.

Based on your "significant sample size" the death rate is....wait for it.....0

Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, virus gonna virus.

Yes, seriously. Absolutely serious. 11 vs. 5 tells us nothing. You're trying to paint a picture of two U.S. political parties with a sample size of 16 cases. We're talking about a hundred million people on each side, and you think you've found something with 16 cases.

In addition, you have no idea what the circumstances were in any of the 16 cases.

I am not going to argue with you - you are defending your party for denigrating mask wearing and making it a partisan issue. From the POTUS, to the House and to the Senate - most all Republicans have argued against masks (facts I will say)

Now, 11 out of 16 positives on the Hill - and you want to dismiss this data because it doesn't suit your narrative.

Don't you think - they got the virus because.... wait for it - because it isn't a hoax and they were NOT wearing masks?

Why is it so friggin hard for GOP and right wingers to say "hey, maybe I should wear a mask??"

I'll break it down like this: the people that created those images are racist. The Republican Party has openly courted racists. Thus, those people have been courted by the Republican Party.

Don't invite racists to your party, and you'll get a lot fewer racists in your party.

Thank you ..... The fact you call a sampling of 500+ insignificant is the part they may laugh at

Respectfully, you simply don't know what you don't know. This would get laughed at by any academic journal on either side of the political spectrum.

Quick question: how did those five people on the left get the virus if it's only those dumb Republicans who are against masks?

Just dumb luck.

That's not the data piece that matters. You just don't understand statistics. Claiming that 11 vs 5 represents the ideals of two national parties is so elementary that I feel bad for how excited you were.

The population I pulled from was total people on the hill (significant)
The numerator I used was positives for all and then broke it down to party (to understand the impact)

Would I put this in a journal - not at all.

I was pointing out - the party that refused to wear masks on the hill - railed against masks and argued about wearing masks - on the hill had an infection rate 2.4 times higher than the party members who embraced masks.

With 8 months of data (so far) this shows a rather clear delineation between ideologies of wearing a mask and not. Regardless of your political affiliation - based on the data we currently have.
