2017 Panini Red knight at auction.. Psa 8..Haven't seen one available in a bit.... Hmmm
Beautiful card. Beautiful.

Although I’d rather have it in a nice mag than a PSA 8 label.

Paddy #104 Panini /49 Red Knights are currently POP ZERO in a PSA 10 (ditto for the /99 Blue Knights). Looks like there's only 1 PSA 10 of the /199 Purple Sacrifice. Or in other words, the colored Panini #104 variants are condition sensitive.

Congrats. That templar really pops w the color match! I low-key dig straight panini. From cards like this, to the chain-mails & (depending on the year) are some of the only panini cards that carry the old school “black knight” panini logo. Like ‘16, I think?

Not sure if they made one for Mahomes in ‘17, but if there was a Knights of the Round insert, I’d be all about securing that early. Those cards are tough. Love both front and back of those cards. Huge in the basketball base, too.

Yeah just checked out Fanatics and saw that. Isn't it odd that the patch is fake though? Or "player worn" and it's value is that high? Obviously NT and a rookie auto, but still.

Not at all. It's his premier Rookie card (or one of the two depending on how you look at Prizm) and there's never been game worn jersey card of him made.

Heck, LeBron even has a game worn card made in 2003 Exquisite and his base rookie /99 still is the card to have.

I understand that, not saying it shouldn't be - it's National Treasures. I'm also not a huge fan of jersey cards in general. I'm saying that the patch doesn't even attempt to be attributed to him. It's just card art at that point, and that's fine.

I didn't realize he's never had a game-used card that actually says game-used, that's crazy. But to reiterate, I'm just saying it's a bit odd to me the best RPA just says "player worn". And I know Panini got lazy and vague with that over time.

FWIW, the verbiage on the 3 highest value RPAs ever made:

"On the front of this card is an authentic piece of patch from a jersey worn by (player) at a photo shoot"

"The autograph and enclosed even worn swatch are guaranteed by Panini America, Inc"

"The enclosed Player Worn Material and Autograph are Guaranteed by Panini America, Inc"

Right, it's card art.

The Red Knight looks cooler as a card imo.

Regarding patches:
Best is game worn
2nd is event worn
Then player worn

The worst is “not associated with player or event”

Having said that, NT RPAs are valuable because that’s the highest end base card set…the patch is like art..its better if player is at least associated…but it’s the NT true rookie that is what makes it valuable …just like gold Prizm …people don’t buy that because it’s made out of gold ..its simply /10 with the gold color..and now has gained traction and lineage in the hobby

Yeah I hear that, I'm not trying to s--- on the card, obviously it's going to go for 6 figures for a reason. Just saying, the patch is either something he slapped on for 10 seconds like Mark Ingram or something he never actually wore (player could mean anyone on the team or league).

Just an off-hand comment. I will say though, there was better "game used" stuff in the day. If you saw playoff in the early 2000s they would specifically name a game and date, opponent, and include a picture of the ball or jersey. And then in the 2005-2013 ish range they would say "worn by x player in an actual game".

I guess they stopped doing that for the most part. Covid probably gave them an excuse. The auto and National Treasures /10 is what makes that card.

That card is pretty cool, I had to look it up. Only 240 pop on PSA that's extremely low. Sick card.

It happened long before Covid.

Upper Deck started doing some really iffy stuff in the 00's.

(could just be a really flat photo or no light, but the templar are pretty foiled)

Many base cards are sold as auction title templar, templar sold as chainmail, yada.

Congrats on 10 grade tho, good stuff.

Yeah I hear you. I don't care to argue / debate just for the sake of doing so. At the end of the day the NT card is Mahomes' premiere rookie and it's going for this much money for a reason.

I just think there is a fundamental difference in that comparison, a gold prizm is never stating or insinuating the card is made out of gold. The patch is or at least used to, directly state or insinuate the jersey was worn by the player in a game or at least something.

But yeah good point with all the UD stuff and all that, it's never been truly legitimate to begin with. Some stuff more than others. I just think it's odd they don't even try anymore most of the time and effectively it's just part of the card design / art now. Is what it is.

Way cheaper to only try in premium brands like Flawless.

I Mahomes case, Game Used Jersey's sell for $200k+, so I get why they haven't put one on a card yet.
