Many times with ross, I have passed up on cleats, jerseys etc......might have to look into it.

That said, I have a lot of sports thrift shop stuff that is just turning and turning in my ebay page.....

Wake forrest mens basketball nike dri fit shoot around shirt, penn st jerseys, texas am hilfiger golf polo, nike virginia tech golf polo, byu adaidias climacool polo......these arent moving.....

Guess my question is, how do you guys have success with this stuff? My dress shirts and stuff sell fine....week or two and they are gone...the golf polo's, starter coats etc....just sitting.

I've sold polos (licensed sports) but usually for around $15. I pick them up when they're $2 or less, I treat them like tee shirts. Otherwise it would have to be a particularly interesting polo like the Louisville one I picked up earlier, it had an interesting design, so figured it was worth grabbing.

I personally stay away from polo's unless it's interesting or next to nothing.

Appreciate the input. Im still head scratching. I have most listed at 19.99 obo, all are nike, adidas, hilfiger.

Decided to pick up a few t's and sports sweatshirts.... Really want to hit a good rythm with this stuff and push a nice 3-4 k this year. Hasnt been much of the name brand dress stuff around my thrifts right now.

Really dissapointed in my starter and puma nfl jackets not selling that are in great shape. Maybe I just need to toy with some pricing to move em?

This is my year in review doing this. I did my first run on January 1st, 2014. My first sale was a LeRoy Butler Packers jersey for $20.55 and my last sale of the year was a 1997 Packers Crewneck Sweatshirt. My sale to push me past $10,000 in sales was also a Packers item. As a Vikings fan I gotta think someone is messing with me.

My top 10 highest dollar sales were:

Kentucky Jersey Smith - $155.00
Logo Athletic Minnesota Timberwolves Puffer Jacket Full Zip - $115.00
Easton Redline Bat -12 - $109.99
2002 Olympic Volunteer Jacket - $105.00
Little People Houseboat #985 - $90.99
80 - LSU Tigers Lanyards - $85.21
Red Pittsburgh Pirates Starter Jacket - $79.99
Chalk Line Raiders Satin Jacket - $74.99
Starter Iowa Hawkeyes Black Satin Jacket L - $74.99
Candide Poster - $70.00

Overall my numbers were:

Items Purchased: 2,124 ($6256)
Items Sold: 786 ($16,064)
Profit: $7513 (Assuming 20% in other expenses such as mileage - $6010)
Current Items in Inventory: 1164 ($3438)
Fees earned selling on consignment: $584

If I just maintain my sales I should sell over 30K next year minimum, but I hope to triple what I'm doing right now by December of next year.

All in all, I've lost my basement, but this has allowed me to earn money while staying home with my baby. We're saving $13,000 a year just doing that. I have five classes left to finish my accounting degree and another year for the CPA. I think this will a nice flexible part time job while I finish up the degree and the certificate.

How did you get into consignments? I would think that would be too much of a headache to fool with.

Where do most of you all find your stuff? I see a lot of buy prices that are way lower than most stuff seems to be priced around here.

Unfortunately Austin is not very thrift store friendly in the price department. I have gone to a few stores there and prices were unreal. 6.99 for Tees. Used Levis starting at 12.99. Garage sales maybe the best option there and even that is questionable.

That said I have made some nice electronic toy and book finds in Austin Thrift Stores, this is where knowing various markets tends to help.

I only have one consignment client, he's a blowout member. A little bit of it was just friends or neighbors who wanted me to sell a random thing. It's recorded and reported more for audit purposes than anything.

That is what I was figuring. Guess I just have to continue to be patient. Garage sales would be nice to do but too bad I prefer to drink beer on a Friday night.

First time i saw this thread on page 2!

My sales have been dreadful this month despite having my most items listed since I started. Also have another 50 plus items to list but lacking motivation.

Had around 45 thrift sales this time last month and am only around 20 this month. Oddly enough my card sales have picked up nicely to keep the $ flowing.

Amazon FBA is a whole different animal than eBay.

Meeting up with some people tonight. I've made about $100 profit on my local Facebook group in 2 on clothes and shoes.

People go crazy over certain brands of jeans and pay $50-$75 a pair on used ones. It's crazy.

How does it work? I looked into signing up for it but it required a business name and since technically I'm not a business I didn't continue with the form.

I don't do it but essentially you ship your goods to an Amazon warehouse and Amazon packs and ships for you. Typically Amazon FBA prices are significantly higher than normal prices because those with prime get free quick shipping and will pay up for FBA items.

Many items at Dollar Tree sell for more on Amazon FBA. Found an item today that sells for around 7.00 on FBA that is at any Dollar Tree.

Also now is a good time to check clearence shelves at Wal-Mart and Target, bought 3 Lego sets that sell for 60.00 on FBA for 20.00 each at Wal-Mart today.
