1 of my 2 big Ohtani acquisitions finally escapes authentication and arrives today. Excited!

Slightly bummed I haven't been able to deal my 50/50 auto relic for a Shohei rookie auto yet, but then again I'm not hurting holding onto the 50/50 either. lol

MLB is going to need to devise some rules around the IBB. Maybe limited to one per player per game. Can’t have the biggest moments stolen from the fans like this.

That and the second base steal / coming off the bag situation.

This plagued the Red Sox all year. Will Fleming on the radio call would go on rants about it about how MLB wants steals and if they come off the bag for a micro second after sliding or even being "pushed off" by the tag it would result in an out when the base was clearly safely stolen.

I don't know what the answer is but you are right. What if they just intentionally walked Ohtani for the rest of World Series? Horrible for baseball.

He is 100% right but with that said, Betts has really been a disaster for the Dodgers this season, and especially now. Time to lower him in the lineup.

Honestly, at this point I don't really see how you can sell any high end ($10k+) Ohtani unless it is towards a bigger Ohtani. Gonna end up just like the people who sold high-end MJ or Kobe or LeBron or Brady too early. I think for a lot of Ohtani higher end cards, they're never gonna be cheaper than what they were a couple weeks ago.

I feel like 2018 topps chrome value packs (with the pinks) at $200 each is a rare still good deal to look at. I just snagged 20 packs of these.

I think a lot of people are afraid to sell any big Ohtani right now just because of what he might accomplish the next game. lol
He has his 3 HR/10K game and everone's like "what can he possibly do next??" and then he goes and has a 4-4, 2 HR, 4 XBH game and getting on base all 9 times he came up. I mean f--k, how could he top that? Well, he could very possibly go and throw a no-hitter tonight! Not even joking. The man is simply not of this world.

I don't own anything high end (I do have one RC auto, and one 2nd year auto) and it this point I am trying to be content with what I have. As much as I want to be a high end collector, that is just not my style of collecting (or risk taking).

I am just trying to be opportunistic going forward as I only buy and hold. I have bought 3 Ohtani RC cards since his prices exploded, and will keep buying if there is something out there I like that is reasonable.

This just caused me to check on the prices of the update value packs.

I was lucky enough that my wife would routinely clean Target out when those and the '18 TCU megas were out. I made myself an advent calendar out of 2018 TCU only. In hindsight, that was like a $20k advent calendar.

When it’s a bad time to be a buyer it means it’s a great time to be a seller. I don’t hold many doubles of my common Ohtani RCs, but if I did, I’d be taking some profit right now on them. Or at least banking some money for when the off season hits. They’re definitely spiking in the heels of this post season (obviously). They’ll come back down - not to where they were but they’ll dip a ton come January. 2018 Pink refractors are not rare. They are not a $3,500 card. And this is possibly the highest they’ll be in the next 5-10 years. You can disagree. This recent price movement is more like a r/WSB play right now than some sort of new floor. The volume of buyers is extremely high right now.

Yeah, if I'm sitting on a decent number of low end Ohtani's (base cards of 18 Bowman/Topps S1+2/TC/TCU etc), I'd be looking to move those right now and put that towards other, more expensive Ohtanis.

I have a PSA 10 18 TC pink refractor I'm really tempted to sell if that $3.7k Heritage auction is anywhere close to reality of current value.

I'm pretty picky in what Ohtani's i buy within my budget. Most of the stuff I have is semi limited (non rookie gold refractors, numbered flagship rookie cup parallels, non rookie red refractors to 5) that I don't want to sell them because a) I really like the cards and b) even if i consolidated into a bigger card, it would be hard to get the cards I'd be losing back..so I'll just enjoy what I have and if a buying opportunity for something else I like comes by, I'll use. Non ohtani funds to acquire it

So very possible won't be able to see anymore Shobombs the rest of the World Series unless the game situation forces the Jays to pitch to him or they are winning in a blowout. Though I find it hard to believe they would IBB/pitch around him leading off the game.

His last 2 games at Dodger Stadium: 7-7, 5 HR, 6 BB. Oh, and he pitched 6 shutout innings and 10 K's too.

And those games were played against the best regular season team and the best AL team.
