Been looking at sales from over the weekend on Ohtani RC cards. Will be interesting if prices maintain current peaks or partially revert. High end especially autos seem to have just double in price if not more. PSA10 stuff also appears to have double on many popular mid end RC cards.

I find all of this interesting because at this point I mainly just collect Ohtani RC cards and not much else.

Demand for Ohtani cards is not going to go down in the future. In fact as the his global stage/popularity keeps growing his demand may grow by magnitudes in the future.

People always says "blank" is already baked into his prices. But he has one of the best games of all time and everything changes. Nothing in the future is going to shock me at this point.

For me this is going to make it much harder to find value on his RC cards that I collect.

I can think of so many better ways to spend $20k than on that card.

But I suppose the buyer isn't hurting for money if they're dropping $20k on that card too.

I really have no incentive to grade at this point as I am holding my Ohtani cards long term and now that high end Ohtani RC are at astronomical highs I am out of this market. Would have to sell a large portion of my mid end RC cards to move up into a RC auto.

I have also been monitoring the "grading" forum and it seems that most people find PSA inconsistent and grading much harder now. From a value standpoint would it be better that my gem mint cards get slabbed a 10 in SGC (or another company) or a 9 in PSA? I think I could have up to like 400 Ohtani RC cards or more to grade that are a 9 or better (in my opinion).

I obviously should have taken everyone's advice on here in the past. Buy high end Ohtani and grade with PSA along the way.

i meant the weekend sales for raws

as for PSA 9 vs SGC 10 ..... PSA for sure. SGC is unlikely to exist in 5 years

After Friday's game...Raw is up across the board! Similar price to PSA9 actually. PSA10 cards have shot way up.

Topps Gold /year is iconic, especially 2018.

Unless you already have a few golds I would add another, but there's nothing wrong with a 2018 #'d refractor of Shohei either.
