I don't think that way though. I have always believed that keeping cash liquid is better than sitting on an item. What if the next offer is 3 months away and is only 50 as well? I just sold an item today that has been in my store for 4 months. Was offered 12.99(19.99) for it turned it down because the item had 9 watchers and 2 offers within 48 hours of listing. I took an offer last night of 9.99 for it. That reinforced in me what I am saying.

In the end there is no right or wrong answer here. It comes down to your personal feelings and mine is "a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush."

Just let me know when you have items that sell between $100-150 if you wait that you'll sell for $25. I'm a buyer.

All it takes is one person(or a group) with 5 or 6 IDs and your selling days could easily be over on Ebay. Happened to many sellers on the Ebay boards in 2010, many still are banned from selling.

I would rather have cash in hand the way I see it if I pay 2.00 for something and get offered 50.00 the next day I am out nothing. I can then re-invest that 40.00 or so after fees into more product and possibly have it turned into 200 or 300 dollars or more by the time I get 100 for that one item. The same way with your 5 for 50 analogy I could possibly double or triple that money in the time it takes to get the 50.00

It largely depends on what the item is. If it's a high demand item like a Rare Polo shirt, then I'd wait and get my price. If it's a Giants t-shirt I have for 25, and somebody offers 15, then I'd probably take it.

I think it's all relative, but for the most part I agree with shreve here.

This is pretty much how I would approach the situation. I mean, in the example given, I probably would not have accepted $25 for the shirt, but $50 is a bit different. And the t-shirt example is absolutely spot on. It's basically going for turnover to accumulate assets. I have taken 60-70% of what I think I could get max, because I could turn that into 4 or 5 items immediately. I think that by doing that, I maximize my potential for future value and it is a risk to wait on a high offer. That being said, as Addison already stated, with a designer vintage piece, I might wait and try to get a little, but $50 seems like a number I would accept.

Honestly, I am not sure why, but it seems like you've been a bit of a rude ass to shreve over the last couple weeks. Everyone is trying to help others, and this thread has been very good for the most part of avoiding the petty bickering that marks so many BO threads. You come across as a genuine nice and helpful guy, so I am not sure why this is happening. We're all trying to help here.

I would probably shoot high at 125 or BO and see how much activity you get.

Got them with other stuff at a goodwill outlet store where you pay by the pound. You have to go through a lot of garbage and aggressive people but you can get lucky. Few weeks ago I sold an LL Bean wool coat I got there for 70, and paid .84 for it.

Yeah, although I would be hard pressed to keep an item I might get $100 for, but I am cheap, lol.

I am a University of Tennessee alum, and about a month ago, I found a pretty nice UT Adidas Dry Fit style shirt. Gray with an orange power T on the sleeve and "Tennessee Volunteers" on the front. I love it. For $4, I absolutely kept it. Probably would only sell for $15, but I love that I found it. I found a Reds shirt for a friend and a Miami U shirt for another friend. Nothing big, but it is cool to find something awesome yourself I think.

I rarely do. There are things I have bought that I ended up wearing but don't search for it.

Here is a question

What do you do with your mistakes? I bought a nice NIKE Univ of Texas shirt in a bag sale last week and found 2 stains on the back I missed. Thinking about just putting it in an auction starting at .99 cents and see what happens. Would rather get something out of it than trash it or redonate it.

Picked this up today. How would you describe it? Looks custom made, no tags, and very light weight almost like material from a throw.

Other pick ups:

You're probably not wrong, I find him to be arrogant. Coupled with that is bad and/or misleading advice. The "I do it this way, therefore it's the only way" method has always driven me nuts.

I've done my best to filter myself but apparently it's poking through.

I like the way we communicate here too, I'll try to keep my personal bias out of it as much as I can. That being said, the last couple pieces of advice given were really bad. I would still interject, I'll just try and use my nice guy words.

I do have a question though...is it possible to be a polite ass. I'm curious what that would look like.

The biggest downfall for me when you don't have your eBay Id it's hard for me to find what you may have for sale.

I'm a 3XL and 4XL so when I find that stuff I price it at the top end plus 20%so I can wear it a few times. The crazy thing is, they usually sell at full price and quicker than I would like. Then the sale is a little bittersweet.

That's actually how I started branching out to other areas. I would find something that I really liked. What I found was if I found it particularly nice/cool/interesting it usually sold well. I've never really been a fashion guy so it's nice to know I'm not totally inept.

This reminds me, I found a couple pairs of breakaway shorts. One was starter and one was Champion. I left them as I couldn't imagine the utility of breakaway athletic shorts (if they were bedazzled I could imagine a few uses). Anyone have any idea what the point of those are?

you wear shorts underneath on cold days like track when u get ready to run they come off quick keeps your legs warm so u get maximum speed and performance until your ready to go

I have a small pile of shirts that I'm going to keep. I have this idea about cutting them properly and selling them as quilting squares for t shirt quilts.

My mother is a seamstress and said the quilt is more work than it's worth even at $300 for a queen. So the way to do it would be to provide the materials. So far I just have a Pujols tee that had some holes in it that I didn't see.

Anyone buy stuff from goodwill stores? I work at a pawn shop so I get some great deals on video games for myself but they don't have much clothing.

Goodwill is my prime thrift store target.. Generally has the most and cleanest clothing, but prices can be all over. Ours are mostly clothing. The other cheaper ones have to watch the clothing more close.
