I am not sure, but with Goodwill there are at least 3 different style of stores. The thrift store, the Unique store and the outlet(which can be a gold mine but you really have to dig through a lot of trash.

Savers had a 50% off sale yesterday. They're higher priced so higher quality items sit longer. So when there is a half off sale you can really clean up. Went to three stores, spent 300 on about 100 items. I think I'll do really well. I'm going to pay special attention to this run and see how quickly I get my money back. Its a good one because I didn't get anything that's a home run, just a ton of doubles and a few triples. That way the analysis won't be skewed by one item.

Stopped by a thrift store on Saturday while doing other errands and found another Ralph Lauren Purple Label dress shirt. Every time I see them now I just hear the $$$ sound in my head ha ha!

Nice! I had a big weekend too, I think it was 7 packages as well, this weekend was definitely a 180 from the previous, hopefully it's a sign of more to come!

No sales, not even a best offer the last few days. Last weekend I made a slew of sales. I think the sales will just come in waves like that. Hopefully the holiday season will lead to a sales increase, but I fear free listings might kill that hope.

Thanks, yeah! Seems like the more that gets listed, the more things move! Hoping for a double digit sale quantity next weekend!

Darrel Revis signed "The Duke" football for $6 (sold to a member here)
50 86/87 Fleer basketball cards for $5, sold for $45

Non sports related
1500 rolls Kodak Advantix Film bought $400 sold $3000
Pente Glass Gameboard bought $5 sold $150
Lego Train Track Bought $28 sold $450
Crossfire Game bought $4 sold $140
Star Wars Jedi Duel bought $3 sold $70 (did this one twice)
Dark Tower game bought $.50 sold $100
Treat Heart Pig plush bought $1 sold $70
Tyco Rc of some kind bought $8 sold $130

Recent find is plush Bah Koo, sells around $125 - $175 for $1.

If anyone wants I can give you a list of things to look for where you can make a quick $10-$30 on board games commonly found. Warning though it becomes very difficult to ship this stuff if you aren't set up for it.
I'd also be interested in your experience with board games, I see so many of them at goodwill, only one I've attempted was a clue board game where I sold the complete set of pieces for $10. Also a question for those of you who have ebay stores, do you do sales, how often, what percentage off, etc? Have they been successful? I've been a bit stagnant lately, a few lowball offers and such.

Thanks for everyones helpful insight!

Many of the variations of Monopoly the pieces are worth more than you will pay. Scrabble games many will buy the racks and tiles and toss the rest of the game, Battleship, clue and many others do good on the breakup.

I used to run sales, but it never really helped with the volume. Main thing is listing new items as often as possible. That seems to help sales more than anything. During times when there are major listing specials sales often drop for a few days as the search becomes clunky and sometimes misses many things.

allright looking for opinions how would you list these? 2 of the mugs are the same size one with just Friends on both sides and the other Friends and the pic. The single mug is a little bit bigger and has friends on both sides. They appear to sell really well, best part is I am in about 3 bucks for all of them!

You are.. I would have taken it and run, even if I knew it may sell for more money in hand is better than money in inventory.

I disagree with this. If I have something that will give me $150 in the next six months, $50 won't get it done. However if the market is at $70 and I could use the cash for more inventory then I may take the $50. I think the spirit of the advice is right, but making it without context is silly.

Yeah it all depends. Being that you just listed it and already getting $50 can be a good sign of a higher offer coming. If it was me I would probably counter and risk not getting a response, which is usually what happens. But if the same item is sitting for a month and you get another offer of $50 I'd for sure take it.

After my sale yesterday I decided to share my experience with Bonanza.com. I signed up back in July and have made 13 sales for $330 since then.

I can't really explain what does well there, I've sold a timberwolves parka for $115 and a generic star trek t shirt that I made a mistake purchasing when I first started for $15. Out of those 13 sales only one was a best offer. I feel confident that these are one off people to sign up to buy your item. They also have some amazon presence but I've never checked to see if any of my stuff made it there.

Because you can port over all of your eBay listings, the time investment for bonanza is minimal. I've found it to be worth the time in exchange for the sales made. A little bonus is they charge 9%, the same rate what a eBay store gives you and they don't charge commissions on shipping.

I would still rather have the cash in hand. Moving money is far more profitable than letting it sit even for a couple of months. There is no guarantee that it will sell.

So if you have something that sells for $100 that you paid $5 for you will sell for $25? Is that why you don't list you're username? I stated that you advice was good except that you used it as a blanket statement without context. You do this often and it's not helpful.

What does that have to do with why I don't list my user name. There are many here on this board who like to buy items with the sole intention of leaving bad feedback. I know of a dozen former sellers who were banned because they were attacked because of something they said on a message board. All it takes is one person(or a group) with 5 or 6 IDs and your selling days could easily be over on Ebay. Happened to many sellers on the Ebay boards in 2010, many still are banned from selling.

I would rather have cash in hand the way I see it if I pay 2.00 for something and get offered 50.00 the next day I am out nothing. I can then re-invest that 40.00 or so after fees into more product and possibly have it turned into 200 or 300 dollars or more by the time I get 100 for that one item. The same way with your 5 for 50 analogy I could possibly double or triple that money in the time it takes to get the 50.00

But with the Polo example, if in 24 hours, $50 was already on the table, I'd wait 3-4 weeks and try to get $80-125 if cash flow wasn't an issue.
