Pelicans are looking to move Terrence Jones (mutual decision) now that Boogie is in the fold. Some team is going to get Jones very cheap. I'd be surprised if the Pelicans can get more than a 2nd round pick for him, considering he's an expiring contract and now everyone knows they're just trying to move him to do him a solid.

I'm over here wondering why we still paying Asik and Hill. Lol. We moved low-end salary while keeping our over paid scrubs.

Because bad contracts are hard to move.

Exactly. You typically have to pay teams to take your trash off your hands. That is typically done by giving up a young asset. Pelicans don't really have any young assets to sweeten the pot for any team willing to take back one of their terrible contracts.

Oh man, Asik, Hill and E. Moore's deals are so bad. Those guys struck gold and will be lucky to get another deal when these run out.

even as a Solomon Hill fan (Arizona Wildcats fan), I cringed when I saw the contract the Pels were giving him. That contract made no sense at the time of the signing and makes even less sense in hindsight. The E'Twaun Moore deal was just as bad.

They committed $82 MILLION to those 2 guys over 4 years, and all 4 years of each contract are fully guaranteed. 2 guys whose career scoring averages are a shade over 6 points per game each.

I was looking through the FA signings a few weeks ago trying to see where the Wizards could have done better than Nicholson/Mahinmi/Smith and had to double take when I saw the Hill and Moore contracts.

I know. I guess my gripe is that was a chance to move one of those contracts. Having those on board won't help us get better.

Yes. I did the same. I couldn't believe what they signed them for.

The next Kings shocker for me is that they cut Matt Barnes. A proven playoff player and good onball defender. It seemed like he would have some value at the deadline but nope Vlade waived him lol

And they just signed him to a 2 year, $12M deal before the season. The 2nd year is a player option which means the Kings still have to pay him that $6M even though they're waiving him. Worst front office in the NBA.

I saw this was already posted in the Celtics thread, but in case the rest of you missed it:

Isaiah Thomas cryptic emoji

Awesome article Neil.... my favorite part was:

As Celtics reporter Jay King pointed out, the last time Thomas tweeted the same emoji, Al Horford announced he had signed with Boston shortly afterward.

The Celtics have reportedly had conversations with the Bulls about acquiring Jimmy Butler, but maybe Thomas had just showered and accidentally gotten shampoo in his eyes.

I don't know if this was brought up but I just read the Lakers are interested in Jimmy, while keeping both Ingram & Russell. The package would be Clarkson, Randle & Williams. Lakers also discussing MCW. No draft picks mentioned.

As a Bulls fan, take out Clarkson & Williams and put Russell, Deng and a pick in there. Chicago would add Lopez.

Bulls would be without a starting center but could trade for Okafor.

Okafor, Randle, Deng, Wade & Russell lineup could still contend this year. When Wade leaves in the off season, Bulls could sign Redick - whom the Bulls wanted in the past.

The story was from a Mike Adamle tweet.

Do you understand the disparity in value between:

Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams and Julius Randle

and

DeAngelo Russell, Deng, Julius Randle and what will likely be a top 3 pick in a good draft?

I'd give odds it's something offcourt with Barnes.

Ramona Shelbourne from ESPN is reporting the Pacers are one of the most active teams right now, trying to find more talent to pair with Paul George. The latest name several at ESPN are hearing is Jahlil Okafor.

From a fit perspective, I don't see how that makes any sense for the Pacers. Just like the Brook Lopez rumor, it only works if you move Myles Turner to the stretch 4 spot and then you've got a slow, plodding big man down low. I truly don't understand Larry Bird's brain sometimes.

Supposedly Bulls said everyone but Butler is available. To me that means they don't expect the phone to ring before the deadline. Outside of Rondo the rest are d-leaguers.

My ideal trade scenario for the Pacers is acquiring Taj Gibson from the Bulls, but only as long as they can get it done without giving up their 2017 1st round pick.

Clarkson, Randle & Williams for Butler is an insult. Vlade Divac isn't running the Bulls.

Will say this about #Cavs: Opposing execs have told me Iman Shumpert is clearly available and there is indeed interest around league.
