That's what I always thought. Defensive skills are important, but when it comes to winning the MVP, offensive stats seem to be weighted more.

That’s not too bad. Since it was in a sealed Topps case you seem to have “broke even” I would say.

Regardless that is a beautiful card!

Thanks. Honestly might be one of the sharpest cards Ive ever bought online.

Going to head to PSA at some point along with all my other flagship parallels.

I'll let you all know the grades in about a year.

1st - SWEET card!

2nd if the BGS slab as an 8.5 doesn't bother you then dont change it. It's protected and authenticated. The cost of shipping/insurance/grading doesn't make sense. However, if you were to send it to PSA, it most likely would not get a 10 auto due to the overlapping of "Topps" and the signature.

That 8.5 centering is crazy though.

Yeah, it's more like Topps Bronze. The gold's have looked like bronze for years now. Gold is what the 2001 cards looked like.

Guessing it's the top/bottom that was deemed a bit off...the top border has very little spacing while the bottom part of the card has a lot of "blank" space. 9.5 corners for a thick card is pretty good.

That 50/50 relic card should be a solid PSA 8 if BGS goes out of business or gets acquired (not a joke). I have a bunch of Transcendent Icons (thick/framed) in PSA cases and I think they stand up well to BGS casing

Please forgive Mr. Witt for wondering into the sea of greatness that is Mr. Shohei Ohtani, but I submitted these cards today at a PSA drop-off event.
Hoping for some nice grades.
I also dropped off Ohtani's MLB debut ticket, which I forgot to take picture of.

I seriously think the 2018 Gold is at least a 9, with good chance at a 10, though I never like to be over-confident about my own eyes.
