I fell asleep due to the rain delay. Glad to see he had a good night, and Roki got his first W! That has to feel good. Shohei's HR-to-RBI ratio is giving me Anaheim flashbacks, but I'm sure that won't last forever.

He is on pace for a silly amount of runs scored (~172), which is also very impressive and valuable, but yes the traditional marker of RBI's is taking a big hit right now. Personally I've always liked having your best hitter in the 2nd spot but leadoff does allow for more plate opportunities

Hard to get rbis when the 3 guys batting in front of him are hitting a collective amount equal to less than a handful of pennies.

#410 on the all-time WAR list now, tied with HOFers Addie Joss and Lou Brock.

Doc mentioned in game that Shohei threw a 35 pitch bullpen session yesterday but is still a couple months from pitching in a game. Still not throwing his slider.

Plenty of time left to run wild on the bases

Anything 110mph+ and 400 feet should be a home run. Sheesh.

To play Devils Advocate, I wonder what a certified auto relic from Jose Canseco’s 40/40 game would’ve gone for, if one such existed, then and now. I’m old enough to remember that was absolutely massive during Jose’s hey day. Obviously I’m not comparing the actual player to Sho but worthwhile thought experiment

There are 5 milestones that can be achieved to earn a Topps Road to Opening Day bonus card:

1. A player hits for the cycle. (2019)
2. A pitcher throws a complete-game shutout. (2023)
3. A player hits 3 home runs in a game. (2024)
4. A pitcher throws 15 strikeouts in a game. 13Ks twice (2022, 2023)
5. A pitcher throws a no-hitter or perfect game. 4 outs away (2022)

I would love to see Ohtani check off the last two if he comes back healthy. Completing the set would be epic.

If Kim keeps getting on base, it could be a huge bonus for Shohei. Imagine having to worry about that guy stealing while pitching vs Shohei

I believe they said on the broadcast he's ahead of last year's pace for both.

He's gonna need to bag 35 by AS break if he wants any shot at 50/50. Slide looks better now so it's all dependent on opportunities. You can tell he just has no appetite to run against lefties this year and he's probably making the right call. Nobody wants 50 bags while being caught 30% of the time.
