Is it just me or is the base 2018 Bowman Chrome #1 way overpriced? I can't believe how much they sell for. Maybe because he's hitting?

IMO it is but it has a lower print run than the base of the Topps Chrome and Update. The hitting image does play a role in its pricing as well since both of the afore mentioned are pitching. Personally I've never cared which image is shown. Pitching is Sho's passion so there's that

I think its overpriced. People see it as his "1st bowman chrome" and go wild I guess.

Don't get me wrong, its an attractive card but it also feels to me like one of those cards that over the long run could invert in value relative to other more traditional rookie cards even with the shorter print run.

Then again, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

people are spending thousands of dollars on boxes that have nothing in them 98% of the time.

i dont know what the 2018 BC goes for, but i can think of a lot of worse ways to spend money on cards

Just pulled this today out of a 2024 Topps Big League Wrapper Redemption pack. Serially #d/25. I'm going to be selling as soon as I figure up a value (I was told $150-$200 in a couple of different Facebook groups).

Sure the print run for Bow Chrome may be lower, but for those doing the graded thing, pop data seems more relevant. People are paying $900-1200 for 2018 BC PSA 10s with a pop of 4510 gem 10s. There seems to be much better options with lower PSA 10s graded from his 2018 RCs (with bat SP 278 10s $1000, rainbow 183 10s $600, All star stamp 219 10s $250).

for that kind of spending money i would skip his Rookie Cards and aim for Parallels or SPs like you mentioned

Demand is just as, if not more so, important as supply.

Had these grades pop via COMC about 2 months ago and just noticed now.
I auto-sort my emails from COMC and don't look at the folder often, so had lost track of its completion.
Obviously all 10 would have been better, but I'm happy enough with the result being nothing less than 9.

Little help from you guys….

I’m getting out of the card game, it’s been fun the past few years but it’s time to move on to something different. I had 5 higher end cards to sell, I’m currently down to two, a Mahomes rookie RPA and a 2018 Finest Ohtani Auto that was purchased as a PSA 9

Now PSA just keeps screwing me. I cracked the card because it looked clean, I figured worst case it comes back a 9, and I felt like gambling for a 10. The plan has backfired as it’s came back an 8 multiple times now. Not sure what the heck they’re seeing, but oh well.

My question is what is a fair price to ask for the card? I know 8’s are not super desirable on a card that should be a pretty easy grade. The last couple of sales for 9’s seem to be around 5k. Is 4K a fair price?

Thanks for any input.

PSA tightened their standards on higher end Sho lately. Those black edges on the back are what is being scrutinized. Start at 3.9k and obo?

Thanks. I may try to sell it here or at a card show or something to avoid the eBay fees. We’ll see. It’s not necessarily a card I’m looking to get rid of quick
