BGS 8.5 is almost at 90k at auction it’s not going to make a PSA 9 that price is silly. Probably a PSA 7/8.

I thought I had a complete Star run until I saw there is a 84-85 6 cards legends set called NBA Lite All Star Charity Classic. No pics on the tcdb website. Anyone own this set?

They were 5x7" black & white photography cards that were given out at 1984-85 Dallas Mavericks home games in association with a charity 3 vs 3 (half court) game played during halftime at those games. The cards were sponsored by Spalding, Miller Lite, the Mavericks and a local radio station in Dallas. |

No, only 84-85. It's all about the 101. I doubt if they ever grade the other years, much less the side sets. Too much risk and not enough (status) reward.

Bump for a PSA population update:
We've almost doubled the PSA population since the end of September 2022: ![]() Thoughts on where the population sits at the end of 2023? |

Still don't get why there is a premium for psa over bgs for this card? Why is psa 7 ~= bgs 8

Curious....who has the rights to Star? I remember Topps using them for the reprints in the 90s.

![]() I am a fan of the "lost years" cards of Bird, Magic, Kareem, and Dr. J-- they are hottt right now in PSA grades due to rarity but that probably won't last. And people would still rather have the 86 Fleer for some reason. Hard to know what people will value in the future but I like the relative rarity of them.

Does anyone know who will grade bagged sets? I was able to pick up the 1985 Crunch n Munch All-Stars and the 1986 Court Kings bagged sets and want to encapsulate them. I don't think PSA is doing them yet, as I couldn't find any info on their site. Thanks!

Well, Happy new year, and along with that a pop report update on the Star Jordans. Basically doubled since my snapshot a year ago:
![]() Last PSA 8 sold for $63,303 on Goldin. PSA 7 sold for $24,400 meanwhile a BGS 9 sold for $68,163 I'm not sure if the general idea once PSA started grading them again was that they were going to take over as "THE" rookie card to have - doesn't seem to be the case. Fleer still rules as the majority. Thoughts? |

The 86 Fleer Jordan is the basketball equivalent of the 52 Topps Mantle The Star is the 51 Bowman Mantle Everyone has their favorite but nothing is going to replace the most iconic basketball card of all-time.
