I remember the first snap Daunte Culpepper took for the Vikings in a preseason game and he looked lost. A buddy said he "would never play a down in the NFL". He went on to throw for over 24,000 yards.

Great read. The 2018 Ohtani thread is an even better read.

Naturally, he didn't make good on his big mouth, and then tried to blame the website he posted it on for him having given that take in the first place.

I wonder what his Blowout handle is.

Somewhere in the long long Ohtani thread I got a little skeptical before Opening Day.

I still wish he would have ended up in the National League though. Imagine if Josh Hader could come in for a couple innings and slug Home Runs and then double switch for the 9th (& extra innings) in the OF. Ohtani might not have needed Tommy John until 2019 or 2020 that way, and DH-in-the-NL proposals would be met with "Shush now."

Regardless, if I can get a chance to go see an MLB game and I had a choice about which one it was, I would probably shoot for one when the Angels were in town.

No reason Ohtani couldn't do that in the AL. Angels chose not to use him like that.

I knew the inevitable bump was coming, so I was wrong won't be the first time and it won't be the last. At least I can say I finally did pull some good Ohtani cards.

I only raged on him based on other flavor of the month imports, at least he broke the mold and came through. Tell me how many of us have lost money investing in the can't fail Japanese league guys.

There's flavor of the month homegrown players too.

Yes there is, and unfortunately us collectors lose money on them also.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka was good for about a month before Nick Swisher took him out on a slide.

You were that bored that you had to resurrect this thread, why didn't you just go for a joy ride in your 97 accord. Great car I used to have one.

Took him 3 years and I am happy for him, I started the thread tongue in cheek but I can’t say I didn’t figure somebody would bump it up.
