Not sure what you’re seeing, but I’d have to imagine there are many of us putting lower bids on some of these auctions in hopes of getting a bargain. I probably have bid on 20-30 by now just hoping for a deal (and didn’t succeed ).

For those who think the price movement is a shame, scam, pump and dump, are you collecting the set or individual cards? Are you here to cast shade on the early success of the set? I’m sure we are all surprised at the price movement. Is the first reaction to something we don’t understand or can quantify as a collecting commmunity or a society is to doubt it? I guess so. Is a Bernie Madoff scenario happening here? I don’t think so. Happy collecting.

whoa, whoa, whoa, not sure why such a strong reaction..

The listing that made me scratch my head was the Ohtani/Martin/Bradley that ended at $361.
There are currently seven available as Buy It Now at a lower price point.
Sure, this might have been a legit auction, or maybe the buyers got into a bidding war, but it just felt weird to me, that's all.

I love these cards, I fully support it, and I think this may be the most popular set of all time.
I'm collecting the set, and haven't bought or sold a single one on ebay.

Sometimes it’s just the way eBay displays listings. If you search Best Match you get what eBay chooses. Often someone doesn’t do enough searching for the best price.

I agree with all of this. The fact that someone bid so much more than others available at BIN is atleast questionable.

This is also true. I will add an additional (possible) element as well.. I know and have talked to several people over the years that think all BINs are "over priced". Some people simply want to win an auction and if this was THE auction 2 people were following.... you get this result. maybe.

I do think there is some jealously added in at some points, but not really on here specifically. I think it is completely legitimate to question the prices of these cards. I'm sure there will always be aspects of "man I wish I had waited to sell" or "I wish I had got in from the start." I don't think it's a pump n dump, I don't think it's a scheme either so I agree there. I think we've never seen anything like this and it is easy to be jealous when you can flip the first 15 cards for nearly 1k.

That is astronomical for those 3 cards right now in my opinion, so the raised eyebrows are needed I think. I think it's possible that big time set collectors are just now hearing about this and this is why we see such high prices. Once you get a few of these folks bidding against one another, it's all history. One might've just thrown a $500 max on it because money is no object to them. There are certainly people out there that are not affected by the price, they just want the cards. Who knows though. It's been a heck of a ride so far.

If Acuna prints 100k I may just unload everything I have and buy a nice Koufax auto and take a few days off lol. I imagine if he prints that much these other SPs will go into orbit.

Agree.
Using vanpatten's sheet as a guide (which is awesome btw), the highest week to week jump in the scrubs PR was 38% (wk 2 to wk 3).
Last week's PR averaged 4887 for the two scrubs.

This week:
If we see a 25% bump, that puts us around 6000.
If we see a 38% bump, that puts us around 6750.
If we see a 50% bump, that puts us around 7350.

I'm guessing with dramatic increase in interest (based on recent price trends), we might see 7000+ for the scrubs this week.

Interest has shifted to these that is for sure, and it’s mostly because of the prices seen and the fact they are only doing one of each guy. I see an over flow to Now in the future. I said this before the collecting community as a whole don’t really know about Now...and with Living it has just brought in more people. This is good for Now. Had a casebreaker look at one of those Now inserts in series one and was totally shocked at the limited Print Runs of the Now Judge cards. Same thing will happen here...people will be shocked about how few Now cards a guy like Panik has...its considerably less then the 4000 Living cards he has...even if he has 5 total cards. AND...FYI; try finding them. His first appearance card in 2016, is a near impossible find.

As for the comment about relic and autographs killing Now...far from it; Now autographs and relics don’t flip and that’s why many don’t like them...they are amazing collectibles though. What I wouldn’t give for a piece of a 1980 World Series base or ball signed by Tugger and Boone! That 16 Cubs set with relics and all will be iconic and a must have fora serious Cubs fan...same goes for the 17 Astros. Living is AWESOME by the way, but Now is still the first thing I look at every morning. I mean: https://www.topps.com/collectibles/t...rd-136526.html
Phillie Phanatic birthday card...on his birthday! And for the Pirate fans the Kingman Rookie! You are not getting the instant satisfaction (except in sales prices) with Living, that Now gives you...

4,143 -- Alex Gordon #11
4,221 -- AJ Pollock #15
4,529 -- Mallex Smith #14

This all depends if new buyers are buying, because if One person buys 2000 more a week of each, its not the same as if 2000 people bought 2000 cards of each player

The funny thing is that I put a bunch together to go in my next bulk sub to PSA, but now most of them are worth over $100 LOL. There are a bunch of SGC and BGS on ebay already, but no PSA yet.

The first PSA 10 Markakis will sell for over $1000.

Hey thanks! I appreciate the feedback. And I agree, 6,000 seems like the low end now I would think with how many Acunas there are going to be.

Dang never had a problem with the condition, thought I was special... but I am not. Just had a 20x order of Harpers arrive and all of them have a ton of white/chipping. Maybe 2 I can keep. Boo. Also had 10x Mallex and 10x Pollock, of course the Mallexes are near perfect, 1-2 bad ones lol. Pollock not great either.

That’s very disappointing. I should probably start drafting a message to my customers now then. Thought this was supposed to be fixed.

Martin and Bradley selling for 60-70

Gordan Segura Pollock almost exact same run selling for 15-20.. or they were a few days ago...

If we see a common run pushing 6000 this week... 4000 is going to look low

no clue what is going to happen in this crazy living set world

im just letting you all know

Great point. I think it will be both.

There will absolutely be new buyers, both those who buy just a few and those who load up.
But I have to believe a large percentage of the PR increase would likely come from everyone simply buying more per week now.
Some will go from just a few to 5 or 10, others may go from 20 to 100+.

I had this thought about the Acuna... If this time in 2011 we were all offered the Mike Trout like this (with the RC logo). 7 years later... Wouldn't we wish we could go back and buy more for $5 or less each? I'm not saying Acuna is Mike Trout great, wayyyy to early to even speculate that. My point is though, these all seem to be a fairly "safe" buy at this point. If he does turn out to be a perennial all-star (as it certainly appears he has the talent to do) will these not continue to rise? I can see this being "THE" card to have of his. And everyone will know how "few" there are compared to even his Topps flagship and Heritage High card.

Obviously just speculation... but I have a feeling they won't print enough to make this a loser. Good time to be in this hobby I believe!
