Nothing wrong with such a correction too, it's healthy. No cards only go up.

Ohtani still has a (hopefully) bright future ahead, and he's the game's GOAT in my book.

2021 was not a great time in the hobby for me. Bought high...didn't sell anything.

My point being is despite Ohtani exceeding all expectations as a player, the majority of his RC are not at all time highs.

He is the #1 baseball player in the hobby by a pretty wide margin at this point. And he is in his prime and on a team poised to be a WS contender year in and out.

You would think his cards would be higher today than 2021 despite the crazy market no?

in 2021 there was one of the big three wax vendors that offered to pay $300 for one blaster of 2018 NBA Prizm. They were $20 each in 2018. They were PAYING 15x to have them to sell. i do not remember what they were selling for.

i sold each and everyone that i had collected as a fan of retail.

thats one of many reasons i say that 2021 does not count as real life.

im sorry you were not here before then, but am glad you are collecting now.

i am not surprised to learn that run of the mill Ohrani cards are not at the prices they were in 2021 even though he is were he is in the hobby right now.

do i expect those run of the mill cards to reach 2021 prices again?
No, i do not, as 2021 was not real.

In 2021, base bowman Ohtani rookies were going for over $50 each. I agree with you, I can’t see that ever happening again.

Claiming psa 10’s will surpass $500 is pure insanity, as someone pumped earlier.

If you bought high end in 2021 you took a lick for a couple years but you are probably up now. Some stuff way up.

If you bought low/mid end, you should disregard the price you paid similar to the way people disregard covid US300/250 PSA 10 prices. A true Jesus Bowman 1st RC couldn't have sustained those prices with the corresponding print runs and set availability.

Also, there have been under five BINs hit for Sho RC autos since the WS win. The demand is way, way down at current prices. I hope it translates to deals!

2021 was probably Ohtani's highest and lowest values for high end (and maybe even low end).

February 2021 - I snagged my orange auto for ~$6500
By summer PSA 10 copies were 140K

Looking for a bit of help so thanks in advance for any input. What do you think a fair value would be if I am looking to make on offer on a US1 vintage stock PSA 8? I cannot find any that have sold and looks like there is a BIN on EBay for 995, but hasn't been sold so obviously not what I want to offer on a private in person deal.
