2018 mega wasn't a bad product
FLORIAL is still key

2017 had the controversy of being pulled from shelves which created this fervor of collectors trying to find it and singles initially selling really well.

No way 2019 meets that hype, as good as the checklist may be, 2017 had the hype and still carries it.
2017 was insane. I managed to buy around 35 boxes and was going to hold them, but they taunted me every day. I finally broke down one afternoon and ripped them all open. I remember being disappointed to only get 2 Ohtani's bt also pulled 6 Acuna's. Overall it was a really fun rip, but I wish I had sold the unopened boxes at their peak. Oh well.

And also Grimesland, NC. On that one there is a Target bag in the background so maybe a legit buyer. Or perhaps a clever Excel rep.

Wow that's awesome.

I remember going to target and seeing 10 boxes, and only buying 2...I'm such an idiot for not buying the other 8!

I managed to hit an Ohtani and was not even aware at the time how valuable it was until weeks later, when i ended up selling before the peak, for $80.

Most employees don't take the time to stock on release day, they see the box, the put out the stuff in the box.

Might come out a week early or a week late, whenever the rep gets to it. It's not a hobby shop so they just don't know these details.

I was obsessive about getting my hands on them. There was a Target 5 minutes from my previous place of employment so I could hit that every day on the way home from work. And then there is a Target 5 minutes from where I live, so I could hit that literally every day. I finally met the Excell rep and he told me when he would normally stock the area Targets, so that helped me know when to go look.

The Ohtani went crazy when he had a no-hit bid. I think they were over $200 at that point. I sold off everything but one Acuna and the colored Mega refractors. Not sure if I will put much effort into 2019.

I remember that no hit bid. i was at a bar having a beer enjoying the game. i remember it being super exciting to see this young phenom pitch they way he was pitching that game. i think it was around the 5th or 6th inning that I got an ebay alert on my phone, it was an offer of $3,100 for my orange ohtani refractor. i thought about it for an inning or so then decided to accept. i remember that evening i was having second thoughts and felt sellers remorse. fast forward to today, i'm glad i clicked accept. that card alone ended up paying off everything i had invested in 2017 megas and even yielded me a profit of like $2k

Hey not bad! I held mine for another couple of months and then sold them along with a bunch of other items in a bulk deal. I wish I had sold the base ones even at $200, but oh well. The whole experience from trying to find the boxes to ripping them was quite a bit of fun.

Stores get the large display boxes early and there is a sticker that says do not display until this date. The sticker can be easily missed because the boxes are big and the sticker may be laying face down.
Some stores have Excel reps stock them and other use their own Target employees to stock the shelves.

I had a blast. Reminded me of the chase for those 2011 update value boxes. I only was able to buy 6 boxes a week or so after release (split 3 with friend) and we each hit an Ohtani. I hopped on the 2017 Mega thread shortly after only to read something from a random person who "heard" they were being pulled off the shelf. I immediately went to eBay and bought the 5 raw that had BIN's for $35-40 each and a purple for $120.

I had the first 2 BGS 10's that were graded. You can imagine how excited I was! That was a fun thread back then.

correct but this is already common knowledge within the hobby.

I got back into the hobby in 2010 so 2011 chrome/update value boxes were still kind of foreign to me. i remember going to walmarts and seeing tons of those boxes but would never buy any. i truly regret that. lol

Can you confirm if the regular Bowman packs are the typical duds or actual Bowman packs?

Are they in front with the cards or back in toys again?
