September is also for teams out of the race. The Nationals were dead when the Mets swept them 8 days ago, and they're even further behind today. Play this scenario 100 times, the Mets make the playoffs 100 times.

Williams doesn't believe the Nationals have a chance; nobody does. It's just a stage of depression at this point; and he needs to move beyond that and see what he has in some of his other players so the Nationals can made decisions for next season.

Ask any Cardinal fan; he's brutal time and time again.
We must have different definitions of awful then.

Robin Ventura is an awful manager. Mike Matheny is like Connie Mack compared to him.

Matheny was nearly fired last season, and if STL gets bounced early, he likely won't be as lucky. St Louis is a team winning in-spite of it's manager; just as a few others have been doing this decade.

Nice to increase the lead and lower Magic # w/o playing.

Yes. This is actually one of the first cards I ever purchased as a single. Had to be less than 10 years old when I did.

Don't worry you can lose every game and the Nats still won't catch you.

Cespedes announced he'll be seeking a contract of at least 6 years.

Yoenis Cespedes will look for 6-year contract | MLB.com

Think the Mets will pony up that sort of cash for him?
