Jarryd is from rugby league!!!!!
I'm guessing union it what is traditional in the US? I played for 2 years so never was a pro and didn't realize there was a big distinction. What are the main differences between the two game play wise?

Really hoping this guy can return some kicks. I've been hearing that Ellington might start over him on special teams

Two totally different games. 15 players for Union and 13 for league. No line outs or rucks in league. I could go on and on about them, but I think it would just end up paragraphs of what I hate about Union. I played Union for about 4 years in high school as a fullback and 5/8 and just hated that I had to kick so much. Played league until I was about 28, but had 4 years off when I went to uni in Sydney, in which I played gridiron. More similarities between league and American football ( known as gridiron here)

It's probably easier to just watch a game if you get a chance. The nrl finals start this weekend, so there should be some good games. The best games to watch to get an idea about how hard a game it is, would be the state of origin Series played in May/June/July. Best way to describe it, would be a pro bowl (calibre of players) played with a Super Bowl atmosphere and intensity.

While edygriff pretty much nailed.
League you only get 6 plays and then you turn the ball over, the rest is similar the NFL.
Rugby is a bit like NFL in that one spot, if you control the ball you can keep until you score.
League is very close to NFL, certainly take Edy advice and watch some State of Origin. The stuff from the 80's and 90's was brutal, today's game is a bit softened.
What makes the NFL better for is the refs, your refs are very good.

was really windy to start the game
Plus I don't care who you are, you get nervous with your first NFL game. Let alone in the bright lights of MNF.
