Default Hyun Jin Ryu 2013 Chromes are signed

According to the Redemption blog....

Quote:
This week's list includes cards from 2013 such as Topps Chrome Baseball autographs from Hyun-Jin Ryu and 2013 Five Star Baseball cut signatures.
To the dude who replaced all his Ryu's (I think he had basically the whole rainbow...) I'm sorry. He's going to freak.

I'm guessing that this might be in response to his case. I don't think he settled for those cards.

So what do they do with the redeemed/replaced Chromes? Use them as replacements?

They only made the ones topps didn't replace for him. (Base, Blue, Gold, Red)

Why on earth would they not have the shortest printed cards signed of the bunch?

http://www.topps.com/wp/wp-content/u...ort-9.3.15.pdf

This makes me feel like I have more of a case to fight. I still have what they sent me in the original package with the Topps stickers attached.

Supply and demand. There's more of a demand for the lower numbered ones, and it's easier for topps to replace the higher valued ones, it would take forever to replace every base and blue, but they only have 5 pinks to replace.

He could've signed the Super, Pink, Atomic, Camo, and black w/silver ink, and black /100 (156 cards) instead of the blue /199. They would've saved a ton of money with the replacement process based on value alone. They had the printing plate signed and not the Superfractor?

I cant believe i just read this thread. Im brand new to the hobby and had no clue that this is a new development.

A few weeks ago i opened a 2013 blaster and pulled a redemption for a gold Ryu. My first redemption. After doing plenty of research on redemptions, I reluctantly redeemed it fearing I would be waiting a long time to recieve either it or more likely a replacement.

To my shock and joy it was shipped in less than a week. Obviously i had no clue that they had just been signed. I actually just sold it at regular auction. Its also the first card of any value ive sold.

It also may have something to do with the printing. They may not have the means to print Camo, Pink, Black, and Black and Silver ones anymore. Those colors aren't in the new topps chrome. The superfractor is puzzling though.

I'm so excited to finally get my Ryu blue ref! The end of the month would've made it 2 full years of waiting

Does anyone know whether there is a correlation between what redemptions do/don't get produced and the percentage of redemptions that are redeemed?

I'd guess from Topps' perspective, it is easier and cheaper to replace the lowest numbered parallels than the more common versions. Logistically, they can probably run off a full sheet of blues, chromes, golds, etc rather than printing just a handful of the rarer parallels.

The Ryu redemptions in question were from Topps Chrome, not Bowman Chrome.

How much did you sell it for (if you don't mind me asking)? I had that exact same redemption card replaced, and I'm trying to make sure I want to keep what I received in return. Thanks in advance.
