Ugh..I hate agreeing with a Seahawks fan

are we talking pre or post 2000's rules changes to increase scoring and ratings? .... because if were lumping them ALL in ... ELI has to be on that list he's 2 superbowls and statwise ahead of a lot of the Qbs on the lower end of the lists I have seen on here

if superbowls are out .... wins losses are out ...... so we are just going by stats alone? .... then go no further than Marino at #1.... right up until the NFL became the National Flag League and in a time where Defenses were actually allowed to play defense Marino held EVERY significant passing record .... every QB since then who has broken a few records mostly broke Marino's records under USFTL rules .... thats not even up for debate

Then you might as well add moon at #2 Maybe Favre or Fouts at #3

Plus, the difference between Brady and Montana's SB results is, Brady led the game winning drives and his defense ultimately failed to make the stops, while Montanas held up. So lol at the 4-0 over 4-2 argument, which is absurd anyways because making 6 SB's and winning 4 and is better than winning 4 and failing to get there otherwise.

Brady #1.
This post makes a lot of sense.

However, Elway is #1, then Brady and Montana. Take a look objectively at what Elway accomplished before the two SB wins at the end. No QB ever had weaker talent around him prior to that and had anywhere near that level of success. FB is the ultimate team game and Elway like no other QB single-handedly won games for his team over and over again. (Before T Davis, he had no HOF WR, no RB, no OL, weak coaching, etc., yet took inferior teams to three SBs all by himself.) Not discrediting Montana but he had weapons on both O and D. Brady is the closest to Elway but still not there in my book.

No quarterback faced weaker competition, either. The late 1980s AFC, specifically in the years when the Broncos won it (including one when a 9-win team had a 1st round bye), was the weakest conference in NFL history. When your strongest competition in all three years is a Browns team who only had one player ever become a HOF [i]finalist[/i, let alone an inductee (and that guy was no longer playing at anything close to a HOF level by 1986), your competition sucks. That conference was an embarrassment to the sport of football, or really humanity in general.

Put Elway in even a below average conference and he has no Super Bowl appearances until 1997. For some reason that always gets ignored.

I will do a list but i'm not ranking them. It's all so subjective. I will say that I do not include SB wins in my list because they are close to irrelevant and extremely overrated by the general public....

Joe Montana
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
John Elway
Dan Marino
Warren Moon
Brett Favre
Johnny Unitas
Roger Staubach
Steve Young

I feel terrible leaving off such legends as Otto Graham, Sammy Baugh, and YA Tittle, as well as Bart Starr. I am not oblivious to their contributions to the game by any measure.

Sammy Baugh pretty much made the forward pass a part of the game. I don't see how you can leave him off the list. Before Baugh it was 3 yards and a pile of dust. People really forget about contributions of past players and how they advanced the game. It kind of reminds me of Jordan constantly being called the GOAT in basketball when Wilt Chamberlain AVERAGED over 50 points a game for an ENTIRE 80 game SEASON.

Haha I thought the same.

Apparently Young is going to do something in the next 10 years to jump over Graham

Jordan is the greatest individual player in the history of sports. Tiger Woods had a shot at matching him but he was more interested in his Ashley Madison profile to keep paying attention to golf.

That is a bold statement. What about Pele in soccer, Ruth in Baseball, etc... It's all relative and there isn't really any way to designate any person the greatest athlete in the history of sports. For all we know the greatest athlete in the history of sports could have been someone that became a doctor. If Jordan was the greatest athlete in history then he should not have had a problem with making a major league baseball roster. What about Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders?

Jordan was definitely the greatest basketball player of his generation, but there isn't any way to determine the greatest athlete in the history of sports.

Sorry to go off topic. I still say Baugh is on the list
