Default Feeling Off

Really nothing to do with comics. I am 48, had a stroke about 4 1/2 yrs ago, nothing damaging except to left eye. I just gave up pop..And red meat..The pop is the worst, I feel so tired constantly. Any ideas? Are there like nutribullet to help make some grape juices? The red meat sux too, I love steak, but I want to be around for my kid in 10 yrs. Smoking is next, already have to go outside..But its the hardest thing..Ideas would help guys

Sounds like you are on the right track as far as "fueling" the machine. Now.... tweak the machine. Have you increased your activity? Walking... running.... GTL time?

The only thing that will help is time. Your going through withdrawal. It sucks. Also expect a huge spike in appetite when you quit the nic.

Is it the Caffeine in Pop that you have to avoid, or other negative ingredients? Five Hour Energy does a great job, not sure how natural it is or what negative ingredients it has that might affect you. Are you taking a multi-vitamin daily? Centrum Men's has done great for me ever since I turned 23 years old, gives you a ton of extra balance and energy if you pop one in the morning. As mentioned, a little extra exercise also. Want to make the excuse that you don't have the time? Do 25 pushups before you jump in the shower, won't take you more than 30 seconds. Godspeed; hope you and your boy are doing well and only get better. -Jason

Meang da,five hour, and start eating red meat again, also orange juice and almonds. I was dumb in college and dabbled in roids when i played sports. Now in 37 body is run down and at one point i was at 6'3 270,i had back surgery and found out yup i have low testosterone from the roid use and other bad habbits pop being one of them. Sooo in order to live again i stopped all sugar laced drinks, found five hour and i enjoy red meat and peanut butter three to four times a week. I will say my body is in great shape i just lack the drive and sustainable long term energy ,but that i know is the testosterone and thats expensive

Add a Banana a day to your diet. It's not that I think you're a Monkey, although some of your shenanigans suggest otherwise, but I'll ignore those for now.

Bananas help overcome depression due to high levels of tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin -- the happy-mood brain neurotransmitter.
Eat two bananas before a strenuous workout to pack an energy punch and sustain your blood sugar.
Protect against muscle cramps during workouts and nighttime leg cramps by eating a banana.
Counteract calcium loss during urination and build strong bones by supplementing with a banana.
Improve your mood and reduce PMS symptoms by eating a banana, which regulates blood sugar and produces stress-relieving relaxation.
Bananas reduce swelling, protect against type II diabetes, aid weight loss, strengthen the nervous system, and help with the production of white blood cells, all due to high levels of vitamin B-6.
Strengthen your blood and relieve anemia with the added iron from bananas.
High in potassium and low in salt, bananas are officially recognized by the FDA as being able to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke.

Eating Bananas Aids Digestion
Rich in pectin, bananas aid digestion and gently chelate toxins and heavy metals from the body.
Bananas act as a prebiotic, stimulating the growth of friendly bacteria in the bowel. They also produce digestive enzymes to assist in absorbing nutrients.
Constipated? High fiber in bananas can help normalize bowel motility.
Got the runs? Bananas are soothing to the digestive tract and help restore lost electrolytes after diarrhoea. Bananas are a natural antacid, providing relief from acid reflux, heartburn and GERD. Bananas are the only raw fruit that can be consumed without distress to relieve stomach ulcers by coating the lining of the stomach against corrosive acids.

I've also added Fish Oil pills to my daily intake, high in Omega 3. Highly recommended, good for your heart and lowering blood pressure. Cheap too.

Right now I am trying the no sugar route. And with meat I am only buying grass fed beef and free range chicken plus veggies from a certified organic farm. Switching to grass fed has made me feel much better. It costs a little more. But well worth it.

Have to agree with Indy on the Bananas..great for fueling the body. I eat one right before I go jogging.

As mentioned, sounds like maybe some withdrawal along with depression which is making you feel tired. Smoking isn't helping the situation, it's hard making an effort to exercise if you don't have the lung capacity and will quickly fatigue/lose breath. Its def not easy but quiting smoking was the first step I took to getting my life and health back in order. I was at 250pds, always tired, depressed, back pain, the works. When I had my daughter, I knew things needed to change quickly, I've lost lots of family members recently due to heart attacks at early ages. The first step was quitting smoking.. I realized I wouldn't commit or truly be capable until I kicked the habit..once those went I was able to slowly start exercising/jogging again...that alone gave me tons of energy..once the weight started to drop, depression, feeling tired, body aches..all started to disappear.

This movie possibly changed my life around and motivated me to make change..seeing others succeed.
Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead
I started juicing, not steriods, but fruits and veggies which also made me feel good and gave energy. I don't keep up with the juicing lately as much as I would like to but I've been supplementing with powdered wheat grass instead..less time consuming to prepare. Still going strong though, the biggest challenge is staying motivated and committed, and like yourself, being around to watch my kid grow is what keeps me going everyday. Its been two years now, quit smoking, quit caffeine (except tea), quit alcohol (except a few glasses of wine on the weekend), I try to stick to an all natural diet..no canned processed foods, just raw ingredients ..and am down to 190pds and running 3 miles a day 4x a week and feel great for the most part.

Let me preface this by saying I did everything absolutely wrong before doing most stuff right. I smoked, drank, and anything else that caught my fancy. I'm a little over 6' tall and weighed 285 a couple of years ago.

I quit drinking a long time ago. My problem was that I would drink until I ran out of money and money wasn't an issue. I quit smoking 12 years ago. I smoked almost 3 packs a day at the time. I switched to nicotine gum for a year and then Trident after. It is the worst habit I've ever had to break.

Now, over 40 pounds lighter, I feel great and I'm slowly losing weight each week. I take vitamins in the morning and evening. I drink water all day and I walk at least 30 minutes every day though I try to walk an hour if possible. The trick is to walk a steady pace ( about 100 steps per minute or better) at least 20 minutes in a row. I also don't eat many carbs as every carb turns into sugar which causes a person to go from energy filled to being lethargic in a very short period.

Nothing that I do requires much effort and I feel great. The nicotine is terrible for us and requires a LOT of will power to quit. I'm sure you have what it takes to make your life better and a lot more energetic.

isn't tryptophan the stuff in turkey that puts you in a 3 day food coma after thanksgiving? lol.

I'd suggest going on google and looking up "superfoods" these are things that have tons of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, polyphenols and all sorts of other stuff which is really good for you. I've started trying to work some of this into what I'm eating. I really just started yesterday so we'll see how it goes. Some examples:

bananas
blueberries
oats
brown rice
broccoli
avocados
almonds
black beans
pears
green tea
dark chocolate (in small doses of course, lol)
eggs
potatoes (I've heard sweet potatoes are actually pretty good for you as long as you don't go ape-#@#@#@#@ on them)
salmon (this one is a bummer because I hate salmon so I skip this, lol)

if you like salmon great, start eating it. if not, I'd suggest boneless skinless chicken breast as a primary protein. I love me some steak, but had grilled chicken last night and it was quite good as well.

I've yet to figure out how to kick soda so I got no helpful info for you there, lol.

Plus 1 on this. Especially boneless chicken. Dietitian I should be eating that as a snack instead bread, potato chips, popcorn, etc. it's lean, same with Turkey.

Texan, your not preparing that Salmon right. I hated too until I meet my current girlfriend. She makes it with some garlic sauce of her own doing. It's my favorite now. I wish it wasn't so expensive.

I haven't had a cup of soda in 2 years. Juice only if there isn't any water. If you can put off soda for a couple of weeks it will start to taste nasty to you if you try it again. When I must have some flavor to go with my meal I drink coconut water. 90% pure. They do sell 100% but it's an acquired taste, I don't recommend it when your first starting out.

Good luck to everyone getting into better shape and improving their health. I'm gonna try some of the things posted that I didn't know.

I get my Salmon from Costco.. still quite expensive but I noticed theres two different kinds.. Atlantic which is skinless and the other I think is called "wild caught/Pacific"? ..anyways the Atlantic is the less fishier and better tasting, its like eating chicken. A little balsamic vinegar and soy sauce! good to go!

And as The Authority mentioned.. watch those "bad carbs" that turn to sugar.

I've tried salmon many different ways from many different places and it just tastes too 'fishy' too me. I know that sounds idiotic...duh, it's FISH stupid! but you know what I mean. I like other kinds of fish like tilapia or cod as they don't have that fishy flavor to them. if I could figure out a way to either get rid of that taste or mask it enough that it doesn't bother me then I'd go for it.

I do a lot of different diet/health things including work out so I take various supplements and have generally been a healthy eater. However, I also have the bad habit with caffeine and drink the Diet Coke w/Splenda..Not sure it's any better for me than regular..

That said, one thing I have been using daily is a Wheat Grass powder, you add a scoop to some juice and blend it in the morning. it is basically helpful for your bloodstream and health, and gives up to 30 servings of greens in that one scoop..Im not sure that it is going to make me live longer but feels like it gives me an early energy boost..

Anyways you might try it as part of your morning breakfast..I get it at Amazon, just look up Organic Wheat Grass Powder and it's $20 or less I believe for a month's supply.

Ok well first thing I am trying is vapor, and banana, like the minions. I have cut soda out now, and drink bottled pure life water, and welchs grape. No alcohol or anything like that. Is heroin bad for u still? J/k..I am on some high bp meds, so can't have anything with grapefruit or whats in them mixed with it. I do like oranges also. Was thinking of a nutribullet to put the grapes in with watermelon, oranges, strawberries, and see what it makes..

Check the label on some of those juices. They have the same or even more sugar than soda. That's a no-no. Very little of the fruit you think your buying.

I gave up soda and it took me a while to get to where I didn't feel like I was a zombie. When I want something besides water to drink. I drink V8 the veggie one or add lemon to my water. I also drink club soda to get that same fizzy goodness of pop. If you don't like it plain u can add little juice to it to kick it up.
