A superfractor as a replacement? Are you kidding me. That to me is a joke. A chase card at the time of release and even if it was a redemption, complete garbage that it would be a replacement. And then if it was a redemption could you imagine someone opening the product now and pulling it for topps to then say oh sorry expired but look we gave it to somebody for their other redemptions that we can't make. Joke joke joke!

This isn't really a reasonable excuse, but I bet the opinion of "fair" is also comparing it to previous topps replacements.

This. ^^^^^^^

Also, if the OP didn't request replacements then Topps should have sent replacements.

I would think that Freeman would be worth a nice chunk of change.

I understand that. That's a whole other issue (redemptions shouldn't expire IMO). I just don't agree with 1/1's or cards that should have been in other releases being used as replacements. Companies really need to figure a better plan. I know it will never happen and most people probably really don't care. I just think they need to try much harder to get the cards live in the product or soon after if it's a redemption.

Nothing. The actual cards. He didn't request any replacements.

But if Ryu is not going to sign; then he's not going to sign.

For some it would, but when you are so close to completing the rainbow to you're PC man which you've been working on for two years, I dont think you care about a card you didn't even want AND is worth way less then what you should be receiving.

Thank you for being the only one that actually sees this for what it is. The value is far from accurate.

The Freeman Blue Auto sells for $30 and Ryu's were going for $60+ last I recall. People aren't busting the product anymore and most that were pulled were redeemed so it's hard to get a value on them now. I know he's out for the season, but I'd take him any day over Freeman.

The last Red Auto Redemption listed on ebay sold for $162.50 (as a freaking redemption card) and Topps valued it at $150. All the cards listed were selling for at least the amount Topps were valuing them at.

All it takes is 2 minutes of research to see this wasn't even close to a fair replacement.

Topps must have realized that they weren't going to get Ryu to sign these so they proactively replaced them. No point in making him wait.

I don't think that's fair just based on their own valuations. $2,230 there?

Green Harvey=~$60
Machados=~$90
Jose Fernandez=~$100
Blue Jose Fernandez=~$350

Does Freddie get $1,570? I don't think so. And despite them not being as strong Ryu still sells great.

I understand the OP's frustration. He obviously is a Ryu collector, so a Freddie Freeman superfractor does not come close to his original redemption of a RYU superfractor, pink, camo, etc.

At least there are a few others that actually see this for what it is. Thanks for the kind words. I have absolutely ZERO interest in Freeman and would take Ryu any day of the week (even while he's out for the season).

Idk about the others but I would definitely take that freeman super over the ryu. Ryu has absolutely dropped quite a bit

Thank your for a simple breakdown so people actually see it for what it is...a total ripoff.

I actually pulled the Super which is what inspired me to complete the rainbow the best I could.

So, in a roundabout way, it's Ryu's fault.
As he isn't signing the cards for Topps.

Or is it Topps' fault for inserting redemptions
of a "highly sought after" import they knew
wouldn't sign to sell product.
I'd probably guess the latter.

I get your point, but he was waiting on a superfractor too. I don't have a problem with them replacing one with the other in the case of an expired redemption.
