Tough to watch the whole way. So many hits, so little runs. Yankees getting two check swing no swing calls that leads to a run. Blown save.

yeah it was a rough night, timely hitting definitely hasn't been our strong point. I know Lloyd is so loyal to Fernando, but he really hasn't had too many clean games, even when he picks up the save. I just odn't understand how you can keep throwing him out there and expect him to change. Every save he DOES get is an adventure in itself.

Personally I'd like to see Montero get the call. Just throw Cruz as full time RF and let Montero DH, he couldn't be any worse then Weeks, who has been almost useless so far...including that terrible sac bunt last night

It's tough to see this team making a strong playoff run at this moment in time, they are just too inconsistent from top to bottom. They have the talent and the pieces, but just never seem to click at the same time

Logan Morrison with one of the worst 3-2 swings I have ever seen.

Who in the world is the Mariners batting coach? How is it possible to have this many undisciplined hitters?

I highly doubt Ackley, Zunino, Justin Ruggiano and Rickie Weeks even have jobs if they are on other teams.

I'm just about ready to write these guys off. No consistency - ANYWHERE!

- Great pitching, no hitting

- Good hitting, the pitching sucks

- Great starting pitching, Rodney f's it away

- Lots of hits, but no runs because they can't hit with guys on-base

- Bullpen is struuuugling this year

- Cano is LOST at the plate

- Jack Z needs to be fired before the All-Star break

Anything else to add to this team this year that I'm missing? It's hard watching em this year...

Unfortunately a lot of those are the same issues plaguing them year in and year out. I'm honestly not sure at this point if it's bad coaching or players not playing to their potential anymore.

We've gone through many managers, hitting coaches, prospects, vets, you name it. The same problems exist then, that do now. I don't know where to place the blame anymore, it just seems like no matter what they change, it somehow never ends with a different result

Cano last year and Cruz this year were obviously bright spots, do we need to be one of those teams that relies more heavily on proven star players and shy away from budding talent? Lord knows we've had plenty of talent through the minors and most never live up to their hype.

Ideally we would love to hold our top prospects and hope they breakout, but are we valuing them too much and wasting away the best years of Felix that we have? We've had far too many top prospects be average players than turn into Mike Trouts in the recent years.

Being young was always a good excuse for their struggles, at this point that excuse just doesn't seem to hold much water anymore. They need to shake it up and move some prospects or hit the big Free Agents if they want to go anywhere it seems. Lord knows we have a knack for making talent fizzle out in the majors

Personally I like the trade. Trumbo isn't exactly a OBP machine but he brings decent avg and some RH pop. Plus we gave up a mediocre backup catcher, an under performing RP and 2 prospects. The only one in gonna miss is Guerrero.

Guess this goes to the point I made earlier of moving potential for proven players

I like it too. 2012 he hit 35 HR's and 100 RBI's. I know a lot has happened since then but maybe the AL pitching will be a breath of fresh air for him. As long as he stays out of left lol

At the rate he's going, Zunino is going to retire as the worst hitter in MLB history.

Another loss at home! Do they even have a slight chance to win another game on this home stand the way they have been playing?

Why do you have such a hard on for bashing Zunino? I'm not about to defend his hitting right now but he calls a great game, is almost perfect with this pitching staff and frames one of the best balls in the game. He's got plus power and was in the majors (I think) less than 12 months from being in the college WS. Zunino is one of the least problems on this staff.

Where has that "great game calling" gotten the Mariners? 12 months? This is his 3rd year in the league now. He has almost 800 AB's.

He is the worst hitting catcher in the Majors on a team that already can't score runs. He is a terrible fit. You can sacrifice offense at catcher if you already have offense but the Mariners don't.
