Default Who's buying these!?

I've never even heard of Johnny Moore. What makes his 1986 Fleer card so hard to grade? I don't understand how dozens of bidders were willing to drop thousands on this card.

For the price the high bidder paid for this card, he could have bought a Jordan 86 Fleer PSA 10! A JORDAN!

PWCC: WHERE NEW RECORD HIGHS EACH DAY, GUARANTEED!

I don't even think Moore's own mother would pay that much for that card...even if forced to at gunpoint.

I know it has something to do where Moore was on the uncut sheet. I guess it is a super hard grade.

There was an issue with this card having a white ink dot by the name. It is one of the hardest cards to find in mint condition. Probably extremely low population.

Still no excuse for 13k.

There are a few cards in this set that seem to have lower high grade numbers. When you factor in the popularity of the set, this happens. I wish I had some nice ones to sell!

Beckett News » Hobby Q&A: California collector builds BGS 9.5 1986-87 Fleer set, opts to auction

Which cards were the easiest/toughest to land?
The easiest card to land for me was the Charles Barkley. I was lucky enough to find several clean examples of this card over the years and had two grade out Gem Mint for me. The toughest card was probably card No. 76 Johnny Moore. Almost all of them have two really nasty print defects on them. For the longest time, this was the toughest card in the set and for a while I was seeing Gem Mint examples selling for more than the Michael Jordan Rookie.

I would like to know how that got a 10 with what appears to be whiting around the corners and edges of the corners.

I remember Beckett Magazine doing an article on the 86 87 Jeff Malone PSA 10 calling it the $10,000 dollar card.

And that was 8-10 years ago.

Plus the centering right to left looks off to me,people grading these must grade them 10's for friends To make quick cash.

centering is totally off... front and back, and those lower corners are not gem. nice card though. Clearly someone got excited at the lack of print marks, and graded with a bias.

PSA should start to make these case with diamond. The $0.50 card and a cheap plastic do not make the cut.

The card is clearly not worth that much; what people paid for was that plastic thing with the numbered tag surrounding the card.

I recently picked up a Carlos Correa blue paper card in a PSA 7 case. I got the card and it doesn't look like a psa 7 to me, much higher really. But then I bought it for the card, not the grade.
